Halfords car seat

Does anyone have this Halfords essentials car seat? If so, please tell me how the fuck you install it. Followed the (shitty) instructions but it’s so loose and obviously not safe so we must be doing something wrong.

not looking for advice on the car seat itself, it’s to be used for emergencies in my partners work van, my almost 2YO has a rear racing one in our family car. Thanks

Kind of. But the ones that use a clip have a differently shaped shell too.

If you look at the car seat from the side, with the padding taken off so it's not in the way, the kinds with a clip generally have a gap where you can see straight through from the left edge of the car seat to the right edge. This is where the belt goes through, then is secured by a clip (which might be attached to the shell or might be on a little string to go on the buckle side).

The ones which don't use a clip, if you look at them from the side there is no gap. You can only see the gaps if you look from the back. Instead of the belt passing through the seat from one side to the other side, it passes through from the front to the back, around the back then through to the front again and over.

Halfords had put it through the holes, which is correct, but in the wrong order, which is incorrect.

See examples in attached photos. Photo one has a gap where you can see through from one side to the other. Photo two you can't see any gap, but photo three is car seat two from the back, you can see two holes instead.

Oh well that's done them in a weird order. But hope it makes sense on all the apps etc. On the one with the clip, you can see the clip in the picture. The other two pictures are the same seat from two different angles.

I also have this car seat, and I have lost the instructions 🙈. Can you adjust the height please? And if so how? And if not, how can it be used up to 12 years of age? Any help greatly appreciated x

It should adjust in height yes. Are you using it with the 5 point harness or as a booster seat?

For this kind of seat for the cheaper styles usually the headrest does not move in the harnessed mode and you just have to look at the straps at the back of the seat, find the metal piece they are attached to, carefully unhook making sure not to lose any of the pieces, pull them out at the front and move to a higher up slot then thread back through the metal piece.

When using in booster mode, usually the headrest can be moved up and down. Often there is a sort of release button or lever at the top of the headrest on the back.

I have found this instruction book, does this picture match the seat that you have? Halfords have had a couple of different of the 123 type seats unfortunately so it's a bit confusing.
