Egg car seat newborn inserts

My LO is 8 weeks old and looks so squashed and uncomfortable in her egg car seat because of the newborn insert. It’s like there’s no room for her arms so she has to sit with her arms in front of her like a little t-rex 😂 I googled it and it says most people remove the newborn insert at 5-6 months but I’m struggling to see how a 5 month old would even fit in it! My LO is 8 weeks but was 4 weeks early and is only 8lbs 6oz so not a big baby for her age but I feel like I need to remove the inserts already because she’s so uncomfortable and hates going in her car seat. Is it safe to do this?

It should be used up to a minimum of 60cm, which is normally around 13lbs, you shouldn't normally remove it before then. Are you placing her in the seat correctly? At 8 weeks she shouldn't be too big for the inserts unless she's a really big baby (which it doesn't sound like she is).

Did you buy it from a shop or online? If you bought it from a shop, maybe take the seat there and see if they can check how she is sitting in it.

It is quite common for babies to hate going in the car seat because they would much prefer to be in your arms but of course they have to go in it for safety. Definitely worth getting a check to see if it's being correctly used though :)
