Isofix Help!

Hi!

Expecting father here!

New to this website but someone recommended I ask the question on here.

I'm very sorry if this has already been answered but Googling and searching keeps coming up with conflicting answers.

I have a Stomp V3 Isofix and car seat and I've installed the isofix base into our car. Everything is green and there is no side-to-side wiggle, but the entire base lifts upwards.

I can wedge the handle into the seat to stop the movement but not enough for the handle to click into place.

Is this all normal, I understand that the base pivots on where it clips onto the car so it makes sense in my head but is this unsafe in any way?

Some website/threads say it's normal, some say it's not which is leaving me a bit worried!

I've tried multiple isofix bases (forgot the brand for my mother in-law's seat) and they both did this.

I've tried clipping to different seats, fully pushing everything in as hard as I could to no avail.

I'm wondering if anyone else has this "issue" or if it is an issue at all. I'm fitting this onto a 2012 BMW X1 if that makes any sort of difference.

As long as all the connectors are green then this should be fine. Some isofix bases do have movement like this which often depends on the shape of the car seats they are sitting on. Is the base sitting flat ok the seat or is their a gap underneath at all?
The lifting up off the seat is normal, there's nothing to stop this movement but of you think about it the main movement the seat is protecting against is a sudden forward collision in which the seat would try to fly forward, at which point the leg does its job to prevent this. Hope this helps.

It lies flat, and everything is green. I've checked with a few people I know with children and all theirs fit the same way.

Just panicking when I wasn't sure and struggled to find a definitive answer online.

This is absolutely normal :)

Double check the manual, but generally infant car seats are installed with the handle placed up, this acts as a kind of anti-rebound, and will prevent the car seat + base combo from rotating back up too far in the event you were in an accident. Make sure you check what position the handle is supposed to be in as this is very important.

When you upgrade to the next type of seat if you stick with rear facing (which is much safer) I recommend looking for seats which come with an anti-rebound bar as this does a similar job, the bigger seats don't have handles of course.

This all makes sense, I've set it up as advised by the manual so feel a lot better and relieved.
