What sort of seat is your 8yo in?

8yo DD is approaching 140cm. Currently in a HBB we bought in Germany for children up to 150cm as per German regulations.

6yo DD is in a Joie Stages using the seatbelt. She is growing out of this.

We are undecided whether to move DD1 into a booster cushion, (she's not comfy with just a seatbelt yet despite apparently being tall enough in UK) or source another up to 150cm seat.

We do daily rural to urban journeys, plus long motorway drives at the weekend.

Anyone able to help please?

My 7 yr od dd is on a booster seat. We travel 280 miles a week. Its much more comfier and looks safer as she fits it instead of being in a cramped seat.

He's a shorty but in a Britax Kidfix. They have released a Kidfix that the back can come off for children over 135 or something.

Spotted it yesterday as I was looking for a new seat for DS as my car with seats in it was involved in a bump yesterday.

My DD's used high back boosters until 8 or 9 then it converted to a cushion only (graco). They used them until 11

HBB (9 and 6) DS1 hates it and says uncomfortable, but I saw that horrific video showing how much safer HBB are compared to cushions, am I being OTT at 9? Perhaps I should look into it, I thought he would be in it till tall enough to not need one.

Mine are 7 & 11 still in high backed boosters.

My 8 year old isnt anywhere near the 135cm to be seatless, and only just over the min weight to go in a backless booster. He us in a high backed booster.

My 10 year old, at 143cm, had pretty much outgrown his high backed booster. We tried him with no seat. He fits in DHs car, but not in mine. So he is in a backless booster for that.

My 9 year old has no car seat, just sits in the normal fitted seats as adults do. He is very tall.

My 8yo sits on a booster cushion sometimes, but looks more comfortable in her HBB- the seat belt position in our back passenger seats is very high so the seat belt guide gets it in the right position. She still has lots of growth room left in the seat as it is designed for older children.

We might have to take 6yo to see if we can get her a seat with lots of growth room as well- she was a petite toddler who has shot up over last couple of years (but not as tall as her sister at the same age!)

DD is 8 in a few months and she has been in a Cybex Solution Q2 Fix since she was 4. It's a HBB but the as the headrest rises the side wings also expand widthways to allow for growth. DD still fits in her seat comfortably and I imagine it will fit her for at least 2 more years.

8 year old is on an ordinary booster. 5 year old on a high backed booster that can have its back taken off when he gets bigger.

Both of them outgrow seats by the width of their shoulders.

At 8 DS1 was in a HBB. I just used it until he couldn't physically fit h is shoulders under the headrest any more, then moved to a backless one.

He is desperate to come out of it and keeps measuring himself every day. He is 147cm and we live in Germany, so he's still away from the limit :o

I got him to sit in the car without it the other day and looked at how the belt fitted him without, and it goes right over his abdomen and neck, not hips and collarbone, so he's staying on it. He is a skinny minnie.

I would look for another tall HBB, it makes sense as then you can max both of them out in one however tall they get. When we do long drives DS1 laments that he's not in a bigger seat any more (the only time ever) because he doesn't have a headrest so it's very uncomfortable for him to snooze.

Or skinny... Vinny I suppose?

DD was in her HBB until earlier this year, she is ten. We have a recaro young sport. She's about 138cm

If she still fits in it and is comfortable then keep her in it and get another.

Especially if you are doing plenty of motorway driving.
