Car seats and small cars

Hi all.

Due in Oct and we are looking at getting a small second car from when I'm on maternity. We are debating between a 105, Ka+ or city go. Just wondering what our chances of getting a group 0 car seat in the back are? And if anyone can recommend car seats for small cars?

If I had both kids (also have a ds who'll be 7) the chances are I'll take our main car which it plenty big enough but I prefer driving small cars so chances are I'd use that during the week. ( Can walk for school run)

I work as a nanny and I use my skoda citigo for work. I have a maxi cosi isofix base in the back with the maxi cosi bucket seat. It fits fine. I would definitely go for a five door over a three door car.

I have a 107 have had a maxi cosi base plus stage one car seat (can't remember the name), a Joie I-anchor and now a britax high backed booster. Car seats have been fine. Getting a peak to fit the tiny boot was more of a challenge

Thanks both. We were thinking 5 door and pram has to be considered as well.

With regards to prams, I can get a baby jogger city mini double and an icandy peach in the citigo boot (obv not at the same time!).

Oh, that is good to know thanks. Baby jogger is on the list (just the single thankfully).

Thought I'd chip in on car seats as I took my little Fiat 500 to try some out at the weekend. First comment - if you have a small car you need to check the fit as some of the fit finders (Maxi Cosi, I AM looking at you) are nonsense!

The best we found for the Fiat was cybex seats - we had the Aton and the Sirona back there at the weekend but we've just taken delivery of the Cybex Cloud and it's the best fit of all and leaves the front seat still totally usable.

If you're looking for something more ERF the Sirona fitted well.

And to concur with poster above, Icandy peach (not carrycot, but chassis plus buggy) fits in the boot with a wheel off. Chassis only can go upright with wheels on, ditto baby jogger.

The fiat is our second car too - I wouldn't want something so dinky if it was the only car with a baby but I think it's going to work fine as a second.

Sorry to jump on an old thread, but it saves asking more or less the same question, although from a different POV.

I need a new car, and would like as small as possible.

My seat a maxi cosi pebble, and 2wayfix base are enormous. They don't fit in any of the small cars I tried - the smallest car I could get them in was a Golf plus (not small).
I'll go and look into the seats listed here as obviously it's worth changing the seat if I can then get the car I want.
@NannyR do you know the exact model of maxi cosi seat and base you had?
Does anyone have experience of fitting an ERF seat into a small car? Don't want to have the same problem in another year or so.

If you join the Facebook group 'car seat advice uk' you'll be able to search for different car types and see what seats other people have fitted. Generally seats which don't have a base and are seatbelt fitted seats will be more flexible.

I'm planning on putting our Axkid Minikid and a Britax Two Way Elite in a Fiesta tomorrow (18mo and 3.5yr old) so you can definitely do it with a smaller car!

Thank you Teaandbiscuitsforme. There is SO much information in the Facebook group.

Glad it was useful grey. I think everybody should have a good read of it!
