Maxi cosi pearl marking my daughters back, maxi cosi don't care!!

Suzie1177 · 10/12/2016 12:43

I posted this on the maxi cosi facebook page and basically got a response to say there's nothing they can do to explain the marks or will they refund me or replace my seats!!

I really didn't want to have to do this but you have Left me no choice! At the beginning of October I emailed you about the 2 x pearl seats my daughter uses and has used for 2 years. She always moans her back hurts in it and just shrugged it off that she didn't like being in the car. She always had this 'mystery bruise' on her lower back as well that I put down to being a toddler. Anyway I finally put two and two together and worked out it was the back of your seat causing her pain/discomfort and worst of all marking her poor back. You kindly collected both seats for inspection, upon my several requests for a loan seat you told me I was on a waiting list. I have a newborn and a toddler and do not live within walking distance of nursery and you decided to leave me 4 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS without a car seat before you finally emailed me a report which basically said there was nothing wrong with my seats and it was my positioning of my daughter in the seat causing this issue. I then sent you a reply on Tuesday afternoon to say how unhappy and disgusted I was with your service and that I in no way feel happy or safe to put ANY CHILD in a pearl again. I requested a refund for my seats and bases. You didn't even have the oyrdacitie to reply to my email but instead I randomly just received back both my seats today with a repair form stating 'returned as requested' I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED AND VERY SHOCKED with your customer service. I always thought of your company as a big repeatable company but am quite frankly so disappointed with how you have treated me. You say you take safety very seriously which is why it apparently took 4 weeks to inspect my seats but I find that very hard to believe. I have a few screen shots from people that have had the same problems so it is obviously a disgusting and shameful design fault that you are clearly taking no responsibility for.

I heard nothing so a week later I posted this:

Maxi cosi it's been nearly a week since you sent me my seats back although I requested you not to and have a refund instead you acted differently and just sent them back without responding to me, against what the consumer wished for. I'm still awaiting a reply!!

So they finally replied to basically say there's nothing they can do as they found no fault...so I am left with 2 car seats that my daughter refuses to sit in!! So disappointing from what I thought was a big reliable company!!

So how is your child positioned in the car seat?

BaronessBomburst · 10/12/2016 13:19

Have you ever tried your daughter in a different car seat? Could you borrow one?
And have any other children ever used your daughter's Maxi Cosi?
It does seem very strange.

Suzie1177 · 10/12/2016 13:36

Yes we now have a mothercare own that I had to go and buy and she hasn't moaned once in it. I got the pearls out and told her I brought her a new seat and she said 'no mummy that one hurts my back'

Apparently she must sit backwards in it according to them as how can you sit them incorrectly??

You can't really expect a refund for sears you've used for two years and which they haven't found to be faulty. It's not Maxi Cosi's fault if your daughter finds them uncomfortable.

Suzie1177 · 10/12/2016 14:10

Do you think it's acceptable for a product to just keep bruising her back then? It's clearly a design fault and an even bigger mummy fail for not putting 2 and 2 together way before now!

Would you put your child in a car seat that damaged her back?

OP posts:
Suzie1177 · 10/12/2016 14:11

I had a few responses from the uncanny fb page with pics of the same bruising to a few children's back too. Maxi cosi didn't comment to that!

You've been using them for two years

CotswoldStrife · 10/12/2016 14:36

OP, do you want to get this deleted because you are not coming across well here. To attempt to return two seats you've been using for two years is completely unreasonable. The audacity is all yours. Just use a seat that suits her.

GinIsIn · 10/12/2016 14:37

But you HAVE been putting your child in the seat that's damaging her back.... FOR TWO YEARS. Are you sure she hasn't just grown out of it? You've had fair use out of the car seat - of course you can't expect a refund!

FruitCider · 10/12/2016 14:40

Still waiting for this photo of the child positioned in the seat...

ineedamoreadultieradult · 10/12/2016 14:44

So how are you positioning her in it?

donkir · 10/12/2016 18:43

Your child has an unexplained bruise on her back that won't go away and you don't think that in 2 yrs you should have taken her to the doctors.
Seats fit different size children differently just how I can find one sofa uncomfortable because I'm slim but my partner loves it as he's bigger than I am. I think you have a cheek to ask for a refund.

umm35 · 11/12/2016 00:52

I don't have a picture of her in it as she refuses. She's 13.3kg and 89cm so well within the limits of the seat (18kg)

FruitCider · 11/12/2016 09:04

Your 2 year old refuses to have their picture taken? Confused

tammy67 · 11/12/2016 09:28

She's just turned 3, recommended age for the seat is up to around 4. She refuses to sit in the seat and kicks and screams everytime I go near it but not with any other seats relatives have! I even tried putting it a different car but she still said the same thing!
How many times do you take a picture of a child in the car because I don't.

I have obviously upset a few people by expressing my disappointment with their products so I'm not going to continue with this discussion anymore. The marks are more apparent when we were in the car a lot and when she doesn't wear a coat (as recommended for safety) as her back is rubbing against it more. Am I just not ment to travel 40 minutes to my
Mums house then to prevent marks occurring?? Everyone else I have mentioned this too online are outraged by what has happened but clearly not on here! She has also not moaned once since being in a different seat. There's no way I can sell these seats on knowing what damage it could do to another child!

Everyone's entitled to their opinions I suppose

dontpokethebear · 11/12/2016 09:32

Errrr, I think you may have slipped up there OP....

RancidOldHag · 11/12/2016 09:32

Even if the seat is rubbing now, you've had 2 years use out of it.

That your child grows over 2 years and that a seat becomes uncomfy during that time is not grounds for return.

PetalMettle · 11/12/2016 09:33

How does she refuse to have her picture taken? mind boggles
I think you can't really expect a refund after 2 years

donkir · 11/12/2016 09:55

Hmm how many different user names?

HeCantBeSerious · 11/12/2016 10:03

oyrdacitie

Brilliant.

(And yes, how many usernames?!)

butterfly86 · 11/12/2016 10:13

We have this seat and my dd has complained a few times that her back hurts but when I checked there was nothing to be seen I thought she was just saying it..bad mother Blush

FruitCider · 11/12/2016 12:24

So are you going to show us the positioning in the car seat or not Tammy?
