Maxi Cosi Pebble legal to use in Florida?

I am going to Florida in the next few weeks with my 11month old DD and we are hiring a car when we are there. Our airline allows us to check car seats for free so I was planning to take ours with us to save paying to hire one when we are there but someone has told me it may not be legal in Florida.

Does anyone know if the Maxi Cosi Pebble car seat is 'federally-approved' in the US? It is rear facing, will be used with a seatbelt while we are there. Thank you!

Your friend will be correct. You will need to use a car seat approved for use in the US, and I can't see that the Maxi Cosi Pebble is. The Mico is used over there. Maxi Cosi will be able to give you a definitive answer though.

I did see that Target ship to the UK if investing in a US approved infant carrier is an option.

I did note that children have to rear face until the age of 2 which is different to here too. Each state has different laws which doesn't make things easy!

I escalated the query up higher today to someone who is working alongside the i-Size regulators. Their response from their US consultants was that it was ok to use an EU car seat in vehicles in the US as long as it is only during a vacation trip. If the EU parents and child live in the US, or the trip is an extended stay, then they have to get an Amercian certified CRS (Child Restraint System).
