Please can you recommend a non isofix High Back Booster seat please?

I need another High Back Booster for my second son.

I have a Britax kidfix for my older boy, which is great, but as it is an isofix one it is very heavy. I need to be able to use the new seat in the front seat on long journeys, because my son gets very car sick, and I understand that heavy seats are not very safe when not used with isofix.

So I need a high back booster seat that does not have isofix. I wanted the Britax Adventure, but have read lots of reviews that the cover keeps coming off, and is pain in the neck as a result. This seat would be used daily (either in front or back seat, depending on length of journey) and so I need it to not be really annoying!

Does anyone have any recommendations please?

Oh really? That's good to know. How old is it if you don't mind me asking? I wonder if it is the newer version that it is happening to. Are you pleased with it otherwise?

Have had it maybe a year. It's basic but fine, we have a 'better' more solid seat (a Kiddy one) for long journeys, the Britax one is the one that goes between cars, grandparents, childminder etc, extra one for friends.

We've got 2 and they are comfortable, hard wearing and v v safe. Not cheap but well worth it.

I think that's the one we have - it was very expensive though, well over £200. We got it at 2 for our oldest child so have had lots of use out of it, and will use it for younger child. I probably wouldn't buy one for a 6 year old tbh.

Firstly check the front seat can be used for a child under 12.

Secondly the Britax Adventure us a very good basic seat.
As is the Joie Trillo. No issues with either seat.

Also try using the middle seat in back so he can see ahead and block out side windows with sunshade.

Why would;t the front seat be able to be used for an under 12?

In my car, Vauxhall Zafira, you can't turn off front airbags and therefore there is a recommendation that child who weigh less than 35kg (I think) do sit in the front seat because they would be injured by the airbag.

Thank you for all your replies. I will check out all the car seats that you have recommended. I hadn't thought about putting him in the middle seat at the back so will look at that too, although will still need a non-isofix seat for there too.

I thought you only had to switch off the air bag in the front if you were using a rear facing seat? The advice I read was to move the seat as far back as it goes to reduce some of the impact of the airbag. Mind you, I don't think the advice on sitting kids in the front is clear generally.

lilydaisyrose - I have looked at the Maxi Cosi Rodi and it looks good. Would you say its comfortable and robust - good enough for daily use and long journeys? Thanks again.

The Kiddy looks great but a bit beyond my price range atm.

You have to check your vehicle manual regarding what it says about child passengers in front and also whether to leave air bag on or off. That's the expert advice for front facing. Seat as far back as possible too.

Also the front seat headrest makes HBB tricky to fit properly so remove it.

We love the Rodi - it's very robust and comfy (so my DC say!). We move it round between cars and front/back a lot and it's lasted 3+ years of fairly heavy use!

You shouldn't necessarily move the front seat back as far as possible if you have a child in a car seat or booster in the front. If you push the seat so far back that it's further back than the seatbelt anchorage point that's dangerous.

Your car's manual will tell you what to do. For a child in a high backed booster mine says to leave the airbag on and move the seat so it's half way back along the runners.
