Does anyone use a carseat with an impact sheild?

How do you rate them?

My dd is 2.5yrs and she keeps escaping from her shoulder straps.

I've been looking at the cybex pallas as an alternative as it looks like she won't be able to escape, plus it turns in the next next stage up carseat too.

Do children get on with the big block in front of them?

We have the pallas; ds is 2.5 too. He's fine and calls it his table. Never had a problem getting him in or out, have been on a few long journeys (3 hrs +) and he's slept well in it. I think it's great value as he's tall (98 percentile) so it should hopefully last us a good few years.

Brill, thanks shirking :)..... So the sheild doesn't get in his way, so to speak. Can he still draw/eat/play with a toy?

It's high (so it covers his ribs) but he can still eat, play with his toys, etc., Haven't tried drawing but that's because my ds, crayons and me are not friends! Ds doesn't know any different though as he's been in a rear facing cybex (my car, which I've now switched to forward-facing), before we bought the Pallas for my dh's car.

Have you tried your dd in one? Mothercare stock them if you are in the UK.

Thank you! Yeah, I'll pop in to mc before hand to try her in one 1st :)

We had one, still use it (minus shield) for our dd(6) now. It was great, she used it as a table to put toys on and a pillow to sleep on. We just had to be careful not to put her in much clothing wise on particularly warm days.

We've got the Kiddy one, bought it when my DD1 kept escaping at 2.5 years, she's now 7.5 years and still in it minus the impact shield which we stopped using 18 months ago. Far safer as the impact shield cushions the torso in an impact. Best thing we bought, and although her arms were high in it initially, she didn't complain

In the Kiddy, the impact shield is designed to be used up to 18kg, so normally around age four. I have the Kiddy Guardian Fix Pro and it's been brilliant.

We used Kiddy seats for both DSs. They're now 6 and 8 so the seats are now in shield-less HBB mode. They were brilliant. The boys never minded the "wedge" at all.

Mine used the Cybex sirona rear facing. They used the impact shield from around 4 years for a year approx. Youngest is almost 5 and we have just moved him to the Cybex solution.

The Cybex brand has very good safety testing
