We have spent many hours searching the internet and having all different types of car seats fitted into our new Qashqai to enable us to have 2 infant carriers and high back booster fitted in the back. At the time we bought the Qashqai we did not know we were expecting twins! And have a 3 year old.
I would like to hear if anyone else has found a solution for this as it proved very difficult and I could not find any post on the internet where this was successful. We thought we would either need to use the MAC system (Very expensive) buy a new car, or travel around in two cars everywhere.
It was important for us to have the travel system because having to transfer the twins from car seat to pram whilst sleeping etc would have been problematic.
The only safe solution we found with the help of Mothercare was the following.
2 X Cybex Aton Q (Without ISOfix bases)
1 x Britax High back booster 11” wide.
We had to compromise on the ISO fix bases because they would not fit. The seatbelts are meant to be just as safe and it was very easy to install. We have also just been looking for a stroller and again this was a huge task trying to get a stroller that was tested safe with the Cybex seats. We wanted a single stroller opposed to side to side, and the only one we could really have was the tandem Egg (we looked at uppa baby vista, Icandy, City Stroller, etc) and with everyone there was always one issue, or another. I’m quickly learning that with Twins you have to make compromises you can’t have everything you want. It comes down to putting it in a weighing scales and deciding on what’s priority and most important to you.
I did expect to find more posts about this as the Qashqai is quite a popular car and I would expect this would be issues for many parents with Twins, or 3 younger children.
I hope this proves useful for fellow Qashqai drivers. I always end up on netmums for advice so thought I would share my experience. I’m a Dad by the way not a Mum (hopefully not breaching the T&C’s of netmums )
