3 seats across the back in Nissan qashqai: Solved

We have spent many hours searching the internet and having all different types of car seats fitted into our new Qashqai to enable us to have 2 infant carriers and high back booster fitted in the back. At the time we bought the Qashqai we did not know we were expecting twins! And have a 3 year old.
I would like to hear if anyone else has found a solution for this as it proved very difficult and I could not find any post on the internet where this was successful. We thought we would either need to use the MAC system (Very expensive) buy a new car, or travel around in two cars everywhere.
It was important for us to have the travel system because having to transfer the twins from car seat to pram whilst sleeping etc would have been problematic.
The only safe solution we found with the help of Mothercare was the following.
2 X Cybex Aton Q (Without ISOfix bases)
1 x Britax High back booster 11” wide.
We had to compromise on the ISO fix bases because they would not fit. The seatbelts are meant to be just as safe and it was very easy to install. We have also just been looking for a stroller and again this was a huge task trying to get a stroller that was tested safe with the Cybex seats. We wanted a single stroller opposed to side to side, and the only one we could really have was the tandem Egg (we looked at uppa baby vista, Icandy, City Stroller, etc) and with everyone there was always one issue, or another. I’m quickly learning that with Twins you have to make compromises you can’t have everything you want. It comes down to putting it in a weighing scales and deciding on what’s priority and most important to you.
I did expect to find more posts about this as the Qashqai is quite a popular car and I would expect this would be issues for many parents with Twins, or 3 younger children.
I hope this proves useful for fellow Qashqai drivers. I always end up on netmums for advice so thought I would share my experience. I’m a Dad by the way not a Mum (hopefully not breaching the T&C’s of netmums )

Your gonna need a bigger car!!! We've got 3 aged 4, 6 & 8. The 6 year old has only just come out a maxi cosy tobi. He's very small.
We have tried many solutions of the years and when you've moved from infant carrier to car seat... Just getting them in and out using seat belts is a nightmare. Then there is the fighting.
We gave up and bought a Galaxy. Eldest sits in the back seats.
I'd change now if you can!!!!

Yes we did think of upgrading car, but this is not an option for us at the moment. However when we need to make the transition from infant carrier to car seat we should be able to get a new car. Already started looking Cmax, Kia Caren, Pegeout 5008 t name a few.

We have 3 dcs who are 1, 3 and 7. We bought a Ford S-Max when we found out we were expecting our surprise no 3. It is a brilliant car there is so much space in the back and boot, you can also put up 2 extra seats which my 7 year old is thrilled about. It has 3 individual seats in the back so you wil get your car seats in no problem.

There is a Mumsnet Cars page which I found really helpful.

Hi, I know this was a while ago but we are in same situ. 3 kids and quashqai. Wondered if you could let Us know what the britax booster is called. Can't find one 11 inches wide? Thanks in advance. Sarah

Probably would have been the Adventure. It's a great seat, has no horns/armrests to get in the way of accessing the seatbelt buckles and gets narrower towards the back/base too. This photo is of the back of the seat, I think it the front the widestbit gets is 42cm.

I have two Adventures, the Discovery is also exactly the same seat but with a bit more padding (if you see a Discovery SL that's the version with ISOFIX)

That's definitely the narrowest Britax high backed booster, I don't think there is one that's 11" wide.
