Hello,we own a BMW 320(4 door) and we are just wondering if anybody knows we are allowed or rather is it legal to sit 2 adults plus a baby car seat at the back at all(probably going to be abit cosy)?sorry I am a first time mummy and my baby is due early dec and my parents are visiting in Jan and I would imagine we might have a couple of family meals out which would require us to use the car!i tried to look for information about this but I can't seem to find any!if any body could shed some light that will be very much appreciated!thank you very much in advance Smile

Have you got 3 seat belts? If so it's fine but if you can't put the adults in the back with a seatbelt then it's not.

What car do your parents have? Could you put the car seat in there if it would give you more room?

What do you mean by 'legal'? If the car seat is fitted correctly and the adults can fit in and fasten their seat belts then of course it's ok

I would say it depends on the size of your car seat more than anything. My husband has a 3 series saloon and we have a cybex sirona in it. Technically we can get 2 adults in the back but it's far from comfortable so will only do it for short journeys.

its not my parents car,it's me and my husband's car, they are over here to stay for a month.there is a seat belt in the middle and seat belt on the left and right passenger, hence it got me thinking if I can actually sit an adult in the middle.

I know it's not your parents car - I asked what car they had in case that was easier to fit the car seat plus passengers into

Potteringalong-Ohhhh I am sorry,I forgot to mention they are visiting from overseas.

Probably roomier to have the car seat in the middle, if it fits safely, and an adult either side.

Law says one seat belt per person.

No different for adult/baby/child. (Apart from air bags...)

They might be more comfortable in the two edge seats in a BMW, as the driveshaft will take up leg room in the centre.

But yes, an adult can sit in any of the car seats. Probably not the one with the wheel, if they don't drive.
