We just bought our first family car (in fact the first car I've owned in 12 years) and I'm a bit lost on car seats.

It's a Qashqai +2 and my girls are 4 in October. They're 17.1 and 18.4 kilos. The car has isofix and I thought I'd settled on the maxi cosi rodifix but the fitting list doesn't list it www.maxi-cosi.com/car-seats/car-fitting-list.aspx.

Any advice?

Car seat companies are a nightmare for taking ages to test car seats in new models of cars, it doesn't mean it's not safe it just means it hasn't been tested.

If I was you I'd take your car along to Halfords or Mothercare and try both the Maxi-Cosi Rodi and the Britax equivalent and any others that take your fancy and see which fits.

When we bought our sons Pebble and Family Fix Base, DH's car wasn't listed as safe (I checked out of curiosity a few days ago and it has now been approved) but the previous version was. My car with 5 doors had never been tested either but the 3 door version had been. The shop assistants have the view "the computer says no".

I'm currently eyeing up a seat that hasn't been tested in my new car either and I fully intend to go and check it out and decide if I fits in my car.

Thanks MrEBear, we're in central London so not near any of the shops that fit seats but since I'll have a car next week I guess I can drive to one of them ;-)

I'm pretty sure I've seen friends who have the Rodifix in a Qashqai.

Just checked the car list on the MaxiCosi website and the Rodifix is definitely listed for a Qashqai+2?

Really? I checked the other day and it wasn't. Think it was for the 5 seater. Will check again....
