If you use a 7 seater, what child seat do you use on collapsible seats?

We have one car, DH's company car. We have 4 DC so it's a 7 seater.
DD is 14 and DS1 is 10, they just use seat belts and sit in the middle and behind the driver.
DS3 2.10 sits behind the passenger seat in a Britax Eclipse.
DS2 4.2 sits in the back row on the driver side on a Britax Adventurer.
I really feel his seat isn't sturdy in the back row. It is fine in the middle or in other people's cars but there seems to be so much movement in it on the temporary seat.

The Britax Adventures that we have are fine on the pop up boot seats of our Peugeot 5008, but the Britax KidFix (that is ISOFIX but can be used without) is wobbly back there and leans when you go round corners. So we just use the Adventues if we need those seats (this is not on a permanent basis as we only have 3 DCs).

If you aren't happy then I guess your 10 year old will have to sit in the back since he doesn't need a child seat.

Thanks for answering Alice. What you've said is interesting as we have a 5008 and I find the seat moves loads. Does your have leather seats?
At first we had either DD or DS1 in the back but they are both now too tall to sit there for a long journey.

No, ours is the 'middle spec' one I think, so it's not leather seats.

I'm pretty sure I had a Britax First Class back there a couple of times (it's much the same as the Eclipse but can also be used rear facing from birth), have you tried your Eclipse back there? I guess it depends on how practical it is, but I guess you will have two seats in the middle row without child seats on so it's easy to flip them up. When we're using the very back seats we usually still have three child seats or booster in the middle row so they have to be moved out of the way first!

DH is due for a new car soon and I think he's going to try and get a lower spec one to try and save a bit on tax.

In the mean time I might try one of those seat protector things to see if it help stop it slipping. We've never tried the eclipse in the back though. Might give it a go too. Thanks Smile

If the seat is slipping then it's not fitted correctly and is dangerous. If it were me I'd either move it to the middle row, to the seat that doesn't allow it to slip, or get a new seat that fits the back back seat properly.

We have a qashqai+2 and can safely use a maxi cosi tobi on the pop up seats.

Can a high backed booster be fitted incorrectly though? Surely it just goes on the seat.
We can't move it to the middle for long journeys. DD and DS1 are to big to fit in the back comfortably.
Maybe if the eclipse fits in the very back that might be better.

You can have a multimac (www.multimac.co.uk) 3 seater in the back of your 7 seater - turning it into an 8 seater, and you can still fold the middle row down to get into the back !

Perfect for childminders of big families - but we can also fit 3/4 seater into backseat of any car.... even a fiat 500!!
