Hi,

Can you help us please? Our daughter is outgrowing her baby car seat and needs a bigger one. We need to get a rear-facing seat because aside from the safety aspect she also has heart disease and will be having another operation next year, so we don't want a seat that would put any pressure on her chest afterwards.

We have a Ford Focus Ghia and we can't seem to find a car seat that isn't Isofix (bleeding Ford didn't put them in Focus' then) that will fit. Supposedly Fords have short seat belts. We tried a Joie Stages but it won't fit!

Do you have a Ford Focus? Which car seat do you use? Any ideas??

Thanks!

I had a Focus until recently. We had a Britax two way elite from incarsafetycentre.co.uk/.

We've got a Joie Stages in our 03 Ford Fiesta, it's a shame that it doesn't fit yours as we've been really pleased. Is yours an older model?

Sorry, just realised how unhelpful that was! Hope you find something that fits.

You can get ISOFIX retrofitted, I don't believe it's very expensive (less than £100 or so I hear). Talk to your local Ford garage if interested, would give you many more options.

Alternatively look at the Joie Tilt its fitted in every car I've ever tried it in but I'm not sure if I've ever tried a focus Smile

Thank you! I'll have a look at that. Was it easy to use?

I have a besafe izi x3 in my astra, which is probably about the same size as a focus. Mine is the isofix version but there is a non isofix option with the option to add belt extenders.

I also have a britax first class which we keep as a spare. We used it rear facing as long as possible, much longer than maxi cosi.

i never bothered to work out how to fit our two way elite as DH always did it for me, but I don't think it was too complicated.

There are lots of non-Isofix ones on the In Car Safety Centre website and they are very good at giving advice by phone. Obviously a Focus is pretty common, so they should know which ones will fit.

We have a Joie Steadi, its bigger than the Tilt but smaller than the Stages and doesn't need a lot if belt to fit as it just passes through the base and buckles in as normal.

We have the britax two way elite too in a ford focus, easy to fit once you're worked out the tethering etc
