When did you move LO into group 1 car seat?

I know they start from 9kg but the infant carriers go up to 13kg so I planned on leaving DD in it until then. But now her head is taller than the headrest, is that ok? I've looked at ERF seats but they don't look very supportive for a baby.

if her head comes above the top of the seat then she is too big for it.

What do you mean by headrest? If her head is higher than the top of the seat, she needs to be moved up. If not, she can stay in the infant carrier until it is, or until she reaches 13kg (whichever happens first).

With DD1, my parents bought our stage 1 carseat for her 1st birthday, and we moved her soon after. Could've waited longer, really. It's safer to leave them rear-facing for as long as possible.

My daughter could still fit hers at 22mths but we moved her into a ERF just past her 1st birthday.

ERF are great. They are as, if not more, supportive than forward facing and the increased safety is immense.

If you look at look at the cost over how long they last they are really good value for money.

She's gonna be 10 months next week. Well, besides her head there is a support thing either side which also goes down the back and she's leaning against. Where did you buy ERF?

Another option is 0+/1 car seats like the Britax first class, although I would personally look at fully ERF seats. You can get them from www.incarsafetycentre.co.uk which is in Milton Keynes but they deliver.

Are they the only shop that do them? We would have to try them in our car, wouldn't we. As we got storage boxes. Combination still means that she would be ff now, wouldn't it? Or could she stay rf for as long as we want?

In the britax they can stay RF to 13kg still but it's just bigger.

Storage boxes makes it difficult, true. If you have a 'common' make of car you can often find out what seats do and don't fit without trying.

yes, they can see out the windows as most are relatively high up.
depending on your make of car you might be able to get a block to put in the storage box

I think the law just changed stating rear facing until 15kg but I don't have a link. There is a long grace period for the moment though with the new rule. We just went into forward facing group 1 as she couldn't stretch her legs straight and head was at the top. She is 11kg and 17mo. And new baby needs group 0 from next week!

What kind of car do you have? The shop linked will talk you through which seats fit your car. I have the Britax Two Way Elite. I ordered it and used Youtube guides for fitting.

We have a Renault megane scenic. The seats are quite high up so that will help.

My 13mo is still in her infant carrier (Britax Babysafe). She only weighs 8.2kg though. We took the head support out a while ago, when we moved the straps to the next slot. What car seat have you got? You only need to move her when she's either 13kg or her head is over the top of the seat.

We've also got a First Class in our camper, it is roomier and rf to 13kg. When her head hits the top of the carrier I'm going to get a ERF seat for the car, probably a Britax Dualfix. Britax do a FitFinder on their website which will tell you what will fit in your car.

At about 1.5! She was small, she rear faced until about 3.5. x

13 months - average sized boy, he was only 10kg then anyway so he could have stayed in the infant carrier longer, I think he would have outgrown it in height by 15 months. He did go into an ERF seat though (klippan kiss, very supportive) and if I wasn't able to buy an ERF seat I would have kept him in his baby carrier for as long as possible.

You can take out the head support, it is really there for little babies. We took ours out at about 6 months old.

I will have a look at the seat again in a minute, its in the car. Didn't think that you can take anything off. I don't mean the newborn nest BTW. I've looked in her red book and if she stays on 75th percentile she will weigh 13kg by the time she's about 2. A lot of people seem to put them ff really early, our neighbours have a grandchild the same age who has been ff for ages. We've got a mamas and papas primo viagrio or something like that. I like it cos it fits onto buggy if she's fallen asleep in it. Just means a bit more fuff getting her in and out.

Is the harness on the highest setting. On some models of the primo viaggio when you raise the harness settings, the headrest also moves up IYSWIM.

My dd outgrew the primo at 19 months, she's around the 50th centile I think. She just 12kg at 2yo.

Britax Maxfix doesn't due to how leg extends. Dulafix will be the same

Fairly certain the Multi tech didn't fit too.

Although Mothercare stock them they are normally a order in product. I really would recommend seeing a specialist as some of the advice mothercare have been giving out show how "green" they are about the ERF concept.
