We need something which can be taken on the plane to be used in a taxi at the other end.

Is there really no such thing? What do the rest of you do?

Could you not take your normal car seat and check into the hold? if its the kind that can be seatbelted in? We took ours the first time we flew with DS and thats what we did, that said he was under 2, and whilst got no luggage allowance we could take pushchair and carseat free... might be worth checking with your airline as to what their policy is.

Since that first trip we've always had a hire car, with car seat included.

sorry can't help more with the product search!
