Anyone used a BeSafe Izi Go with an Uppababy vista?

Hello,

28 weeks and trying to get organised. So, we're quite keen on the uppababy vista for a pram/pushchair. We were just about to go for it when a sales assistant pointed out that maxi-cosi might not be the safest car seats, and had we thought about Recaro or BeSafe. The Besafe website says that the infant car seat fits on maxi-cosi adaptors, I just wondered if anyone had some real-life experience?

Coupled with the complication that we have a Ford Focus and have been told by one sales assistant that the belts aren't long enough for a maxicosi (but we have the option of a loan of a Easybase - not isofix).

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

We haven't used that combination but are looking at the same! At 32 weeks at the moment and will look to buy fairly last minute just because warranties start at purchase date and it seems a bit of a waste buying too soon!

When we spoke to an Uppa Baby rep at the recent London baby show, they did say that the BeSafe fits on the UB Vista - pretty sure that they even demo'd it for us.

Would be so surprised that the Focus seat belts don't fit the MaxiCosi - Maxi Cosi and Focus are pretty much a standard! Just take your car to a Mothercare that does car seat fitting and they will probably be able to try.

Another bit of info we heard was that Uppa Baby are brining out their own car seat called the Mesa. Waiting for a reply from them about when it is coming out in the UK.

BeSafe iZi GO car seat just won Mother & Baby Gold Award with the Vista as a Travel System so worth a look. Has a 5-point harness too which is safer.

BeSafe Izi Go is an excellent seat, the Cybex Aton 2 is also very good and will also fit the Vista. I agree with what the sales assistant told you and wouldn't touch Maxi Cosi with a barge pole

Thanks for the replies. Off to John Lewis soon for a "fitting" so we'll see. Just found the checked the uppababy website again which now says fits BeSafe. I'm sure it didn't before - or maybe it's just the baby brain!

ok, the besafe izi go just fits - short belts no isofix; maxicosi fit with the easybase. I'm wondering if that will actually lead to more consistent, safer fitting?

kernewek79 why would you avoid Maxi Cosi? Struggling to find any hard evidence...

Grainmum
If you look at the Which tests the Maxi Cosi seats are very good when isofixed but pretty poor in side impacts when belt fixed without a base. Most people even with isofix are likely to need to dispense with a base at some point. We also have concerns about the upright seating position, especially on the Cabrio.
I guess wouldn't touch with a barge pole is a little harsh but the BeSafe and Cybex seats do the same job but with much better all round performance

I mentioned the UB Mesa car seat in my post the other day - UB got back to me to say that the Mesa is only approved in the US and no UK release date.

Can't comment on experience as not used yet but we have bought the be safe iZi go. The 5 point harness and recent safety awards swung it for us. I also like that you can have the hood up without the handle.
We bought the isoFix base to go with it so that's another option.

Yes we have this combo for DS - 10mo. Very pleased with it
