Help please, need to get a new seat for my 13mDD.ERF would be preferable but unsure of best one.

DD is over 84cm tall already and almost at weight limit of her baby seat. I would love to keep her rear facing but i have a car with that stupid under floor storage (who ever uses it?)
I would like an isofix as thats what we have now but am open to suggestion.Car is C4 grand picasso, her baby seat has a base with storage leg and Halfords fitter put it in middle seat for safety (no storage under that bit) but its a right pain to get her in.

We have a Britax first class, which has no support leg -the back of the child seat rests on the back of the passenger seat IYSWIM. It's not Isofix but is pretty easy to tie down with the seatbelt.

Are you anywhere near the In-Car Safety Centre in Milton Keynes? They were v helpful to us.

Hi,I had the same issues when getting a seat for ds1. I got the britax two way elite and have been really happy with it, have had it for over 4 years. Smile

We spent 2 hours with the man in the car seat shop in Wallingford a couple of weeks ago and this was the best seat he could offer.

It has a winch that pushes the circular back into the back of the seat to create leg space. It was an excellent seat. £350 is a lot of money but I think it is worth it.

We also have a two way elite in our Citroen Berlingo with underfloor storage.

We phoned In Car Safety in Milton Keynes for advice and they were excellent. We are about 200 miles from the nearest ERF stockist so needed to buy online.

we also have the TWE as floor storage issues here too (Almera Tino). Very happy with it, we've had it over a year. We have another set of the straps so it can be put in a different car without too much hassle (i.e. having to undo/refix ours, though they need tightening again if the seat is moved). We also went to the place in MK, they were very helpful.

Your DD seems huge to me- DS is 2.2 and just 87cm! Grin

Thank you all, we are on the southcoast so not that easy to get to Milton Keynes (all my children get car sick if they go on a journey longer than 40mins) is there anywhere closer that does fitting advice.
Is the izi kid seat spacious? DD is very big already.
With the Britax ,was it easy to fit yourself? Did you have to see a specialist to be shown?
JollyYellowGiant, were you able to put the Two way in any seat?

Some car manufacturers sell polystyrene inserts to put in the floor storage so a leg can be used. Like this

The TWE goes in both the rear side seats but we haven't tried it in the middle.

We didn't get any professional fitting, just asked the MK place for advice over the phone then ordered from their website.

There's a place in Wiltshire - securatot I think it's called that might be easier to get to. Or baby2k in Portsmouth have a limited range too

Are the storage boxes very deep? My friends c8 wasnt and a foot prop would extend to the bottom. I found the maxi cosi base was very much straight down ie 90degre angle whereas with ERF seats they are more at a 45degree angle...if that makes any sense?

My scenic had deep storage boxes. The Besafe missed easily, the mobi could be adjusted so it just missed but didnt like how the seat was on the limits of the edge of seat. Axkid just reached my scenic. Axkid is in the other car as my main seat. Leg is long reached.

If you have a big child already I would not recommend the besafe.

TWE or axkid...possibly multi tech but you may find the shoulder become upcomfy as child gets bigger

The izi claims to be for up to 5 year olds. The headrest moves up with the child and isn't fixed at that height. That said I would probably try to find a stockist and try it first. It's a big old beast of a seat! We are definitely getting it. We went to Wallingford but that's only about an hour closer than Milton Keynes!

The storage boxes are pretty shallow but i didnt know if it was safe extending the leg into them.
Lagoonhaze, is the besafe not very big then?DD is long and wide, she weighs almost 27lb already. I will phone some of the links tomorrow.

Yes its not the biggest seat in regardless of lasting the longest. If you are spending that kind of money you would be better getting a longer laster one to 25kg.

Extending prop into open storage box is fine and is actually recommended in many manuals.

In car safety have opened a new branch in Rayleigh, Essex. That would be closer then you can see the TWE in person! They have the full range like MK :) so great more places are stocking RF!
