Stage 2/3 car seat for car without isofix

We need to get DS a new car seat and I'm not sure what would be best. Our car is 10+years so no isofix. We occasionally do long car trips to visit family so it needs to be comfy for long journeys. There's just too much choice and I'm so confused as what would be best. Thanks for any recommendations!

is that the high backed booster stage? My two are in the maxi cosi rodi xr (dd is 9 and ds is 6)

I think it's just the forwardfacing stage. DS is 20 mo. Sorry, I don't really know much about car seats.

I think its stage 1 with an integral harness that you will need rather than a stage 2/3 that uses the adult seatbelt. We used the the maxi cosi priori xp for dd and ds - it is suitable up to 18kgs. What seat do you have just now? Have you looked at extended rear facing seats?

Alternatively you get group 123 seats that do from 9kgs up to an age/weight/height that they no longer need the seat.

sorry am getting confused between groups and stages - where I have written stage above I actually mean Group.

Thanks for that link. We need a group 1. We currently have a maxi cosy pebble rear facing with the extra leg thing. But DS has grown out if it and his knees are up to his ears in it.

I would have a look at extended rear facing www.incarsafetycentre.co.uk. This is the best thing you can do :)
