isofix question - can you use it without the fittings in the car?

Maybe a daft question........

WE have bought a maxi-cosi car seat but yet to purchase the base. The car doesn't have the isofix fittings in it. Are we able to secure the base with the seat belt like the older style car seat bases? thanks

I downloaded the manual from that page you linked to and the base is secured using a 3 point safety belt and the support leg

Anyone have a Mitsubishi Sport? have you fitted baby and toddler car seats on the 3 point seat belt ok? I am thinking of buying the above but can't seem to find out if my maxi cosi seats will fit. Maxi cosi fit finder doesn't list this car. Any help appreciated.
