Due DC2 in March.

We don't drive but will use seat once or twice a month in taxis.

Bought a cabriofix from a workmate but noticed on inspection it expired in 2011 have checked under covers and there are no marks or stress patches on phasic or polystyrene.

I don't want to spend a lot on a car seat which will get such little use but don't want to compromise on safety either so I'm trying to decide whether the spec of this seat outweighs the safety of a cheaper seat.

Any opinions on this, tbh I'm swaying toward cutting my losses and buying a seat for £50ish.

I think I'd go with your gut feel on this one. Yes, the Cabriofix is probably fine, but you will always be wondering. Even the cheap seats are required to meet a certain level of safety, and you then have peace of mind too.
