Car seat for the back of a campervan, confused on safety of some.

Recently been trying to get a front facing car seat for my yr old for back of T25 camper. Had 3 point seatbelt fitted but Halfords have told me that due to the length of the seatbelt stalk (it being above the seat) I can only get the Maxi Tobi as all others will "pop undone" in an accident. This sounds terrifying but can't find anything on it online, what has anyone else done?

they may be talking about buckle crunch where the buckle gets pulled over the plastic of the carseat which can cause it to open/be unstable in the event of a crash

I wouldn't put a year old child in a forward facer. Look at rearfacing.co.uk. Possibly britax two way elite may be a solution.

Buckle crunch is lethal. I wouldnt try halfords though. Too many bad experiences. Independent nursery store or in car safety centre.

You could try the Britax first class. This seat has a 2nd routing that is ment to avoid buckle crunch as the buckle part passes through the triangular metal bit at the back. I know this as a friend of ours has a classic camper that has long buckle parts and this was the only seat that they could get to fit. They got theirs from the in car saftey centre in Milton Keynes. Give them a ring and see what they sugest. We have spoken to them about our seats before and they are realy helpful and know their stuff well.

Our friends looked at erf seats, but on their camper there was nowhere to attatch the teathers, so they could'nt get one to fit. It might be worth looking into though.

we used to have a camper and used the britax first class FF in it (using alternative seatbelt routing). I seem to remember the maxicosi cabriofix was fine so if your chiold is only a year old will they still fit in an infant carrier?

we used Britax eclipse in our T25 with the middle lap belt - no buckle crunch, as solid as a rock Smile
