When is DD too tall for her Rear Facing seat - if so what should I buy?

DD (4.8) has an Izi combi X2 and her head is now above the back of the seat. I can't remember whether with ERF if it's the top of the head or the ears that indicate when to change seats?

I think she is also nearly at the limit of the straps too, but unfortunately nowhere near the 15kg to move into her next seat.

She is about to start school and would like her seat to turn round like all her friends (clearly I would keep her rear facing forever if I could Wink).

What should I buy her - bearing in mind that she is only 13.5kg and I am a safety nut!

Thanks

A high back with a impact cushion might be the best plan. As she will fit in it as it goes up to 12 years but she can use the impact cushion until she is 18kg. kiddy, mamas and papas, and jane all make them

Yes somthing like the Kiddy guardian pro would be good. You use the impact sheild from 9-18kg then you use it as a normal hbb which goes all the way untill they no longer need a seat.

It's tips of the ears for ERF seats so she has a little longer to go. The TWE may be good choice for the next seat especially if you have a sibling to pass the seat down to (the upper weight limit would be seriously over kill though as it's 25kg!)

Or if you were happy to go ffing/unharnessed then one of the impact shield seats may be a good choice too though you'd probably be best getting a group 1-3 so you could use it as a high back booster after 18kg

Ah thought it was the ears - thanks.
I wouldn't say I was happy for her to go FF, but she is nearly 5, so I think a seat with an impact cushion would be a good compromise.
I couldn't keep her rear facing until 25kg - she'd probably be in her late teens by then Grin
So just a choice between the guardian pro and the pallas then i guess.
Thanks

The TWE goes ffing to 25kg too so you could keep her harnessed until secondary if you liked Wink but a impact shield to high back booster would probably be the most cost effective seat if you don't have anyone to pass down to.
