Combination of car seats that will allow an adult to sit in the back

I have one DS but am thinking of trying for a second baby. DS has a Maxi-Cosi Pebble with the isofix base. He isn't yet ready to move up. However, when we do get a car seat for him, it would be good to get one that will allow enough space for an adult to sit in the back as well.

Ideally I'd like him to stay rear facing for the next seat. I've heard that Volvo do rear facing seats - has anyone tried one with a Maxi-Cosi also in the car?

We have a Porsche Cayenne so do have quite a lot of room.

We had/have the Britax 2 way elite in the car with a maxi cosi infant carrier.

The Britax TWE is quite slim so there was plenty of room for a passenger in the middle.

We've now got the Britax Two Way Elite and a Maxi Cosi Mobi (so 2 group 1 rear facing seats) and still enough room for a passenger.

Cars have been Pug 206 and a Scenic.

Not quite sure how big the volvo/britax seat is but I should think there will be plenty of room.

Look on the 'in car saftey center' web site. There are lots of erf seats on there. You could give them a ring and ask advice on which ones are narrow. Ive heard good things about another britax seat which i think is called the highway ll.
Im on phone so cant link, but have a look on their site. We are making trip to their store in hols to try a few out...... we have several to buy with 13mth twins and tiny 2.3yr old all about to outgrow infant seats!!!!

Just had a look on the 'in car saftey centre' site and seat i was thinking off is 'Britax hi way ll' Its our top contender at moment.

myboots - I have a Hi Way II and I do love it. We got it from MK In Car Safety Centre too. It doesn't have as good a recline as it's predecessor the Nordic Secura (that could recline when installed!) but as the NS was approaching 6y old it needed replacing and I am not disappointed at all. DD2 fitted in it easily with room to grow - 110cm & 18kg at 4y 6m-ish so not a small child by any means Wink though it's DD3's seat.

Thanks Truth. Its helpfull to hear that its a good seat. We are not tp fussy with recline as long as it has enough to stop head flopping forward when sleeping.
DS2 (2.3yrs) is only just 9kg and is very small for his age. The twins are not far off 9kg all 3 have a good few inches left in their baby safes at the moment but we are wanting to get new seats for the 'family car' and have the infant seats in the nannys car/dhs truck untill fully outgrown. By the sounds of the Hi way they will last them all for a very long time.... such is the short arses they areGrin.

You can get recline blocks as well so if your seats slope towards the bight the block adjusts for that to get a better recline.

I think that they would be good for 3 across as we have had a Britax First Class, Britax Nordic Secura and a Britax Two Way Elite all rfing across the back of our old car and the HWII is narrower than any of those!

mybootsaremuddy · 14/07/2012 19:44

Brilliant! Thank you. Shouldnt have trouble fitting 3 in as we have a tank VW Transporter to fit everyone/thing in (we have 6dcShock).

TruthSweet · 14/07/2012 20:20

I aam green with envy - I'd love a Transporter (for DH to driveWink)!

We have a Caddy Maxi Life now as I am expecting DD4 but we had the three rfing in a Mazda Premacy. We can get the Hi Way, TWE ffing and a Sunshine Kids Monterey high back booster across the Caddy in the middle row (if we need the back seats out) but will be having the HWII and a Baby Safe SHR II baby carrier with ISOFix base in the middle when baby arrives (older two in the back row and a free seat to get in and out).

We have fitted a maxi cosi rodi with isofix and cabriofix with isofix in a cayenne with room for average sized adult in the back of a cayenne. We have also fitted the maxi cosi Tobi in with both the cabriofix and separately the rodi. You will be fine!

Sorry just read you want rf. I don't have any experience of those.
