We're off on hols next month. DD will be sitting on my lap on the plane so any car seat we take will be going in the hold. DD is 20 months and 13Kg.
We're going to the caribbean, and have seen the car hire firms own seats and been quite unimpressed so we're taking our own. So question is what is a good, safe and easily transportable car seat to take with us. Lightweight is great but obv not if it compromises her safety. Not taking our car seat from car here as is isofix and is a heavy maxi cosi. Also aware may regret spending a lot on something that could get trashed by baggage handlers.... Really really looking forward to getting useful advice!

Our car seats have always survived the various plane journeys (long haul or short) intact so I would just take your own to be honest. Definately do not use the hire car company ones!!!
Remember when it comes to car seats - how nice they look, how heavy it is, how much padding there is is irrelevant - all that stuff is for mummies. To be safe it needs a british kite mark and be easy to fit because its sole purpose is to stop baby moving in the event of a car crash.
