Do I need to swap from 5-point harness to normal seat belt?

My DS3 is 4y 7m and in a Britax Evolva. The instruction say to use the harness up to 18kg. My DS is just over that now. But will he be okay in the harness still? There's plenty of room in it. I'd rather keep him in the harness as long as possible but I'm worried that it won't work properly over the weight limit.

Anyone know about this sort of thing? Pretty please with a cherry on top.

The harness has only been tested to 18kg so although it may take more weight than that I personaly would not want to take that risk with my DC.

I would either remove the harness and use seat as a HBB or if you realy want to keep him harnesed or you think he wouldnt sit still with just the seat belt then you could try this seat. It is harnessed and tested up to 25kg. It is the only seat available and approved for use in uk that harnesses above 18kg forward facing(it is only available in uk from the place in the link). There are 1 or 2 other seats that go to 25kg but only rear facing.

You could always give the people i linked you to a ring and ask their advice. They are realy knowledgable and very helpfull. I have asked their advice before and I know several other MNetters have also had dealings with them and they are always being recomended.

Thank you very much, myboots. Lots of great advice there. I think my DS would sit still in a normal seat belt but I'd just prefer the extra protection with the harness. Will go have a look at that link now.
