I have a 4-month-old weighing 14lbs 7oz at last weigh in a week ago. We have a Ventura plus car seat (up to 13kg apparently?!)
Our problem:
When we put him in it, the shoulder straps are sitting on his shoulders and on the highest loop through. The pamphlet says that when baby's shoulders sit above the loop through, it becomes dangerous/doesn't fit properly. The thing is, on the back of the seat, there is clearly THREE loop holes but the highest one has not been cut through. Has anyone else found this to be the case? We're considering cutting through the polystyrene to create a higher loop hole.
Also the seat narrows towards the top and I'm finding that my baby's shoulders are becoming squashed and this will obviously worsen as he grows. Anyone else found this problem? I have read it's 'okay' as long as head doesn't go over the top?!? My problem is that it cannot be comfortable to be squished.
These are presenting problems for our holiday to Madeira. We were going to take the car seat and chassis and use it as a car seat/pushchair whilst away. He will be 7 months old when we go. I am concerned that he won't fit and don't want him uncomfortable in a warm climate. At the moment he is fine in it and doesn't moan or groan.
What does everyone else think I should do?
- Continue to use the car seat until he 'outgrows' it (i.e. head reaches top)?
- Change the car seat thus thinking of an alternative pushchair/car seat for our holiday?
We need a car seat to access hotel transport otherwise it's a private taxi and I am not sure in Jet2 (or taxi firm) can accommodate a big pram/pushchair top with chasis. In fact, I know they can't - not with luggage as well!!!
