Help URGENT baby is majorly uncomfortable in carseat????

Hi My 12 week old is so uncomfortable in carseat.... its age appropriate etc just want to know if there is anything i can do to make her more comfortable??? Thanks

In what way does she seem uncomfortable?

What seat is it? Is the padding, headrest etc fitted in the best place for her? Are the straps at the correct height? How do you know she's uncomfortable?

My baby seat had a lever to adjust it once the baby was 5kg+ maybe yours needs adjusting?

no lever, the straps are as high as they can go... its a silver cross car seat.... she just get so upset when we put her in and wiggles about... its like a bucket style seat very uncomfortable for babies

babies get upset and wriggle in carseats, doesnt mean they are uncomfortable, they just dont like them, well some dont!

post a link to the carseat, are you sure the straps should be on their highest setting? they need to be just above or level with the babies shoulder at the point they come out of the back of the carseat, i think? i know they shouldnt come out lower and then go up and over the baby ifyswim?

The straps are too high for her if she's only twelve weeks old and you have them at the highest level already.

Babies do make a fuss in their car seats - it doesn't mean they're particularly uncomfortable it just means they'd rather not be strapped in thank you very much! They do get used to it.

Perhaps a visit to a cranial osteopath it may be the pressure on her head is uncomfortable?

It doesn't sound like she's strapped in safely. Could you take her to or another car seat seller and check to see if she's strapped in properly?

As far as i can remember, car seat straps for rear facing shouldn't be higher than their shouldersm, ie, thestrap shouldn't come down over their shoulder but be on the setting where they are level or below shoulder height and come up and back doen over the shoulder, somnething to do with if you brake it stops them from slipping straight out of the straps due to teh momentum.... i think.

My ds hated his car seat until he was big enough to change to fiorward facing! We hads some noisy car journeys! Just becauseshe doesn't ike it doesn't mean she's in urgent discomfort

Is baby wearing a coat? That can make it uncomfortable as well as unsafe.

Does it have a newborn wedge in it? My maxi cosi did and once removed was more comfortable.

Straps do sound too high. I have only now adjusted my straps for my5.5 mth old.

Marking place - my 16wo hates his too! It seems to squash him up so much, wish it wasn't so curved, seems so uncomfortable. Googling it a while ago threw up stuff about their lungs being squashed in this position, as well as their spine, so it's not just a case of 'babies make a fuss' IMO.

YY they do need to be lower or level with the shoulders in a rear facing seat. It's because if you crashed she would travel upwards along the seat back due to the sloping position of them and straps being level with or below prevents this. If they are coming from higher then more potential for them to move higher up the seat back.

In forward facing it's the opposite because the intention is to stop too much forward movement.

Could you go to a car seat selling shop and try her in a more upright car seat, such as the Britax First Class? It's rear facing until 13kg and then turns forward facing, but some babies prefer the more upright seat.

I had that problem and realised afterwards that it was probably to do with the angle as the back seat sloped at an angle and as a result the carseat was at an angle. I saw a product advertised that looked like a rolled up yoga mat that you could put underneath the car seat to make it more level, but a rolled up towel would probably do the job too.
