Kiddy Impact shield - when did you stop using yours?

For those who use a Kiddy Guardian Pro, when did you stop using your impack shield? Is it a size, age or weight thing? or a combination of all three?

the impact shield is for children up to 18kgs at which point you would remove it and use the seat with the car seat belt
