I am looking to get the next stage care seat and im totally confused as to what to get. Whats Isofix??...apparently our car does not have isofix fittings... is isofix a lot safer, and if it is can I get the fittings from somewhere.?

We had the maxi cosi first seats to be honest they did the job however I never thought they looked that comfortable...so have had a look around and have seen the recaro car seats, they make car seats for racing drivers... they are german..am just wondering if any one has got them/ seen them used them. If not what would you recommend?

Thanks... its all far too confusing. !! :)

We have one! We got it for DS when his age 0-4 yr car seat was too small. We drive LOTS and for long times. He sleeps well in it. It also meant he was in a five point harness for a bit longer too which was beneficial. Dd will be getting one soon as she is reaching the weight limit for her maxi cosi. It's really comfortable, I feel really secure knowing he is in it. I like mine!

We don't have ISOFIX and weren't able to have it fitted in our car. We used the recaro carseat (I think you are thinking about the one that is suitable from birth until 13 kg or something similar). We loved it, found it easy to use and put in and out of car with seatbelt. We also used the Maclaren buggy (techno sport or similar name) that it clipped onto.

Are you talking about the recaro young car seat? 9months-11 years? (though I think 9 months is young as they don't recline enough for babies)

We have the Recaro Young sport, and tbh it's the best car seat we've ever bought. We have 3 DCs so have been through a fair few! DS is comfortable in it, It's very easy to adjust, and it reclines just enough for his head not to loll around. I wouldn't recommend it for a 9m old, but i think 18m+ should be fine.

I have the Young Sport and am probably going to replace DS's high back booster with another Recaro soon. They're excellent quality and value, and have excellent side protection. And very very comfortable.

Isofix isn't about safety really - it eliminates the possibility of poor safety due to bad fitting but provided you fit the seat properly with a seatbelt it is just as safe.

We have the recaro young sport for my 4.5 yr old. However new baby will be extended rear facing. Have you considered this.
