Baby in Izi Combi

DS1 is at the weight and height limit on his Izi combi at 2.10 years Shock (why when DH and I are both below average in height I produce giant children I don't know but anyway!)
I need to find another car seat to last him as long as possible and ideally keep him rf till he is 4. It there a seat that will last him till he no longer needs a car seat, was thinking the TWE?
Also if DS1 is moving out of the Izi combi is DS 2 better off staying in his rf maxi cosi or going into the Izi? He is just over 8kg, 18 weeks very nearly sitting so strong but perfectly happy in the maxi cosi.
Thanks

TWE is a fab seat and fits tall children well (DD2 is in ours and is ~110cm & 17kg at 4.2y). She is FFing though due to her gastritis Sad

I'd probably keep your baby in the bucket for a while yet as they are nicely reclined and switch closer to a year when he may not sleep every time you go for a drive (IIRC the iZi is pretty upright).

Your baby at 18w is the same size as my DD3 at a year! She's only 12kg now at 2.3yGrin She's in a Britax Nordic Secura rfer which is no longer made but it is fab (brilliant recline and a good sized seat = very comfortable child)

The TWE will rear face (and forward face with harness) until 25kgs. DD was 6.5yrs when she outgrew it heightwise...however, she isn't very tall!
I have a TWE for DS and he is very happy in it.

Thanks, I contacted the ladies at the In Car Safety Centre and they made a valid point as to whether we have space for 2 ERF seats, I think we do in one car but not in my husbands so I need to do a bit more research as can't afford different seats for each car.
truthsweet I dread to think how much DS2 will weigh at a year, currently above the 91st centile. Grin

DD3 was born at about the 91st (8lb 10oz) but was quite ill so hit the 2nd%ile! She is climbing now though....

Ahh you see mine do the opposite, born small and early then boom leap up the scales like babies on a mission!
Hope your DD is okay now

She's getting there (wheezy, scabby creature that she is!)

i would go with the TWE. it's definitely much higher than the besafe (we have both).
ds2 is 4 and a bit and his head is only just coming up level with the top of the seat (he is average height for his age)

I want to thisis but don't think we can fit a TWE and an IZI in DH's car (Honda civic). Any suggestions?

is that because you can't fit one behind the drivers seat?
cos the TWE takes up less room that the besafe, esp if you have it in the upright position.

your other option would be to disable the airbag if you have one and put ds1 in the front seat in the TWE?

shufflebum · 24/01/2012 21:40

Yes, even behind the passenger seat is tight. My car is the everyday runabout near deaths door and we use DH's for long trips, going to be driving to France in the summer so the seats have to fit both. Can disable the airbag in the civic but not in mine. Thats interesting that the TWE is smaller but DS1 will still need the recline as we will be driving overnight to France.

i've had the TWE in a mini and a nissan micra, so it's worth a try if you can try one out anywhere.

shufflebum · 25/01/2012 18:27

Right will see if I can find one to try.
