Help! Son flopping forward when asleep in his new high back booster seat!

I recently purchased a Graco Logico L high back booster seat for my son (3.5 years/18Kg), which seemed great until our first journey where he fell asleep. Every time he falls asleep in the seat he flops forward to one side until he is literally doubled over. The first time it happened I was completely shocked and scared. It can't be safe in an accident!

I am now looking to find a new seat with more side support so that it might support him in place. I've seen a recaro milano seat that looks more supportive?

Has anyone else experienced their child flopping forward in the booster seat?

Can anyone suggest a solution to the problem other than buying a new seat?

Can anyone suggest a particular high back booster seat that does not cause their child to flop forward when asleep.

Thanks for any feedback!

My DS does exactly the same in his Ferrari seat [yes, I let him choose, silly mummy!]

He flops right out sideways until he is almost lying flat, scared the life out of me the first time.

Now when we have long journeys for holidays. I put a tall plastic storage crate in next to him with his toys in it and put a pillow on top. That way when he starts to creep sideways he just ends up with his head on the pillow but his body is still inside the seat. Not ideal but it suits for the time being.

I went to Halfords and asked about this and the assistant said it was really common in all the high back seats once you stop using an integrated harness, but stops once you take the back off and just use the booster by itself.

Maybe one of the kiddie seats? We have the one that lasts until they're 4 - comfort pro I think? But there is one for when bigger. But they all have a cushion thing that is instead of harness- when ds is tired he lays his head on it, looks really comfy!

Impact cushion won't be any good as her son is 18kg. look at ones that recline like britax

Why not? They're suitable up to 12 years.

We have a britax Kidfix. This seat reclines slightly via a leaver under the childs bottom (u need to recline it before journey) We leave our reclined all the time as it is only a slight recline but enough to keep them contained if falling asleep. He has slept in it loads of times and has yet to 'flop' out of it yet. Says it is V comfy and much better than the one in his friends car (a graco one with Disney cars on).

pootles Even on the bigger kiddy seats you can only use the impact shield up to 18kg then you use it as a normal hbb until 36kg.

Yes agree you either need one which reclines, or a seat which harnesses over 18kg (although these tend to be a lot more expensive.)
