Anyone taken a kiddy carseat on holiday?

Are they heavy and easy to put in and out?
We go away to grandparents' a lot and want a light-ish car seat if possible.

My friend bought one when she was over here from nz as they have the same safety standards as us. quite light easy to put in. They took it to the airport with grandma standing by with the box encase it had to go in the hold the carried it on and put their little one in it.
