I am execting no3 pretty soon and am can only fit a 3rd seat in th front passenger. I currenty have DS1 (age 4 ) in britax kidfix in rear passenger, and DS2 (20months) in KISS (rearfacing) in rear driver seat.

I can deactivate front passenger airbag in my car. My plan is to put baby in maxicosi (with base) in front passenger with airbag switched off but am now wondering whether it would be safer to put DS1 in front (? with airbag switched off)

anyone know what would be safest option. really can't afford to change car at the moment
TIA

I have heard it is safest to put the safest passenger in the front seat. In your case that would be DS2 as he is rfing but more physically mature than than newborn baby.

If you have a 3 door car though that might not be the best option as the booster would be easiest to remove to

What car do you drive?

its a BMW X3, so 5 door (need 4WD where we live)

Hadn't even thought about putting DS2 in front!!

You could also try different configurations or installing the seats in different orders (middle seat first is usually best) too.

i would put the baby in the front. have ds1in the back in his twe, and ds2 in the front in his cabrio. would doubt that you would be able to see in your side mirrow with the large wings on the kiss or have good visibility out the side window past it-haven't tried though so may be wrong.

you might also be able to fit them all in the back but without the base for mc baby seat. had a twe, kiss and a mc rodi or mc cabrio in the back of a vw golf! took about 2 hours at the in car safety centre to get them all in but we managed it lol!

good luck!

thanks for the replies.
the main problem with trying to put all three in the back is getting access to do up seat belts. also because of shape of car the carseats with legs ie KISS and maxicos base can't go in middle seat. So only kidfix couldgo in middle as it has no leg, but then practically impossible for me to climb over to do up seatbelt.

Mind you I am 39 weeks pregnant now so perhaps I could manage it in a non pregnant state.

The other issue is that if I did manage to squeeze all 3in the back somehow none of them would be on isofix (they are all compatible with seatbelts but they feel more solid on isofix iyswim?)

I will have another play around with them when I am NOT pregnant to see if that makes it any easier!! Confused

the rf seats are apparently no safer being isofix or non isofix. i think it was one of the carseat.se emails, or was it on the rf website. and yes everything is super hard when you're pg! Wink
