Please can anyone advise as DH and I are not in agreement?

My 3 children all have the same car seat going along the middle row of seats in my car. A certain garage has not replaced the seat belt as we asked so I have a situation where I don't feel happy using the set belt as it is fraying. DS1 is 140cm so probably tall enough legally to not need a seat but we prefer to still use one. The issue is is he safer in the front or the seats in the boot until the seat belt is replaced? There is an air bag and I am not sure if I can turn it off. Is it never okay for an air bag to be on if a child is in the front? DS1 is 10 in March. Can anyone advise me please?

I would say he's safer in the front seat for now. It's ok for an air bag to be on if the child is forward facing, but it's recommended that you put the seat back as far as you can.

Thank you. We will do that. I will have to put ds2 behind him as he hopefully needs less room for his legs.
