hi

Someone wants to purchase the above car, all i know it is 2003 series and I was wondering how hard it is to fit a car seat/booster seat for a 4 year old, i am clueless on carseats and just helping out someone. I know for a fact that the car is not ideal, but they also have a family car, but sometimes have to take the younger child in the convertible.

please help on which type of car seat thanks, and will defo let them know to take the car to halfrods or toys r us or somehwere that fits it in for them. Thanks

You haven't said if it's a two seater or not. If it's a "3" series, I assume the child will be in the back and the car may well have Isofix (many do). If it's not a two-seater then I doubt they'll have any problems.

If it is a two seater, the car will either have a method of disabling the passenger airbag or they may need to buy a specific seat for the car. I have a two seater Mercedes and have to buy the seat that deactivates the airbag (usually in the region of £350). I can't find a link but there are child seats on the BMW website (it's just hard to navigate around).

The best thing is probably for them to ring a BMW dealer for more info.

It'll be fine with any good make of carseat then and will probably have Isofix fittings (but you may need to check this as I'm not sure they were standard in 2003). I'd look at Britax and MaxiCosi but there are many good makes. The child will be fine in the back of the car.

I've just bought a MaxiCosi booster seat for use in other cars. I'd originally ordered a Britax but I didn't like the covers. Have a look at Halfords as many are quite reduced at the moment - www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&categoryId=165554&langId=-1&action=listrefine&constraints=teq%7C%7CAgeBand%7C%7C3+years+to+12+years%7C%7Csor%7C%7CPrice%7C%7C1 here]]. I should add, though, that I am not a carseat expert!
