We're just got one. I did look for ages and apart from no sliding doors I couldn't find fault.
I'm expecting no4 but we didn't want a huge people carrier, but needed the extra seats. this was voted best MPV by whatcar/which. We only have one car so needed something for holidays, around town and also cheap to run for husbands 8 business trips a month. My OH wanted something that still felt like a car.

It really came down to the mazda5 and 5008. However the mazda5 has high servicing costs and I've read so many bad reviews. Plus couldn't fit 3 carseats on the middle row.

I compared space of galaxy to 5008 and very, very little difference, I actually thought there was slightly more load space in the 5008 with all seats up than the ford. My dealer loaded up the boot so I could see how much I could fit in. I also took all my car seats and played around with them.

I've sat in row 2 and one of the back seats and found them to be ok. My MIL sat next to be 10 year old in row 3 and she said it was fine, the journey time was 45 minutes. I really like the seats in the middle row they are all seperate, they each can all slide back or forward to create different leg room.

We traded in our ford c-max which we had been very happy with but the 5008 is actually cheaper to fill up. We went for 1.6 HDi 110 Active. It worked out at best value. the 2.0 HDi wasn't as good on filling up costs and the 1.6 was more than powerful enough when we were driving up hills around bristol/bath.

Only thing I would want is sliding doors but guess your can't have everything. Would have made it perfect though.

oh thank you so much..thats really helpfull.

Yes one of our things was sliding doors...im guuted it doesnt have them..

I love the look of the 5008...and at the moment its between that and the galaxy. We have come inot some money and have been looking at the mid to high spec range.

I found the galaxy mid range had loads more than the mid range 5008....infact i found mid range had hardly anything, compared to the high amount of stuff you get with the galaxy.....BUT the price is so much more for the galaxy...Near on £28,000...where as brand new 5008 to range was £25. Still a bloody lot of money to spend on a car..but as i have some money i never thought i would have, we thought we would get something luxury for once!!!!
I was also gonna look at the Seat Alhambra, as that looked good.

Can i ask you a few questions???

Whats the insurance difference like for you?
Does the tinted windows come as standard? and do you get arm rests on the front chairs?
Did you get usb mobile connection in it? as in the galaxy thats standard!!!

II thought the 5008 looked bigger than the galaxy..and sure i read the boot space was bbigger??

thanks for you help

if you dont mind me asking how much did you pay in the end then?? Blush

oh also...sorry im gonna bog you with questions now!!! lol.......if i had seats in the middle row..ie baby seats....if i wanted to pull the back seats down (the bloke showed us and made it seem so easy!!!)...so pulling the string bit in the very back seats to make a bigger boot....do i have to move the whole middle row forward to get them to tuck down, or do they simply just tuck down with no touching the middle row????

thanks.xxxx

We too were going to buy new but I think the sales guy thought we were struggling as I run an allotment site and one time went straight to the showroom to collect a brochure. He told us to buy one with delivery milage if we didn't want any optional extras.

So we paid £15,000 it was £15,750 when I drove it on test drive it had 5 miles on the clock when it was finally ours it had 33 miles. No ours was active so no special extras but we kind of thought at £15000 we were more than pleased.

Pulling the seats down, (OH is on business trip so might get back to you on this) but no you don't need to move the middle row, of course if you've moved the middle seats back to create more leg room for the 2nd row I guess you would.

Insurance was actually the same, well £9.53 cheaper actually. I'm sure my OH said the Tax was now £110 but I might be wrong on that.

The galaxy sure does come with a lot but the increase in insurance, tax and fuel put me off plus it was all about space for me and the galaxy couldn't offer me any more than 5008.

My children like sitting in the back seats. So far we've had
3rd row 10yo and 7yo (booster seat)
2nd row stage 2 seat, booster, outside seat folded

3rd row seats Grandad + 10yo
2nd row seats 7yo,3yo(stage 2 seat) +grandma

2nd row all three children
3rd row folded

2d row stage 2 car seat + booster seat centre seat folded
3rd row 10yo + Grandad

hope this helps.

Also even with all seats up I have actually done a tesco shop and I got 9 bags in the back. I guess I could of piled it higher. We as yet haven't need to fill to the max so haven't put the boot space under any pressure. Also haven't checked my Jane 3 wheeler but my lightweight stroller can fit in the boot with all seats up.

I'm sure you'll be happy with the 5008 I've spoken to a few people who've been happy with them and my OH boss was impressed with ours on a busissness trip that he's just got one. Of all the reviews I've only come across one bad one. The sales guys in our dealership were really nice and helpful where as some showrooms had some slimy types. The ford dealership for me made the least impression they couldn't even give me a brochure just told me it was online.

Hope all the above helps

wow, you have helped so much, ta.

Just read it all to my partner and think you have convinced him now too!! Grin

think in sept they will get some more used ones coming in, when the new reg comes out, so hoping to look then and see if if we can get a high spec one, with low milage at a better price.

will keep checking on here if you think of anything else.

thanks alot.Smile

funny enough I came on to suggest you wait until the reg comes out as you could defo get a good deal. They were basically all over me trying to get me to comit. Another fab time to buy is Christmas as no one buys cars at christms. My brother is also a dealer but for mega sporty cars and he says the best time to buy is towards the end of a aug and christmas.

If you get sport then there is some more storage areas dotted around the car, which the basic ones done have.

When OH is back I'll mess around with the 2nd row seats and check for impact on folding 3rd row

Just doing a bit of looking and via used cars through the peoguet website found some sport cars with 1,003 miles as low as £15,979 and found a top of the range for £20,495 so defo money to be saved even now.

mindermummy · 22/08/2010 21:21

www.used-cars.peugeot.peweb7.m25.co.uk/

just type in postcode and select 5008 and to the left how many miles away.

Oh and note that our dealer had several showrooms around the country so could deliver from anywhere to the local one in bristol.

mindermummy · 23/08/2010 21:06

thanks for that link..have saved it to keep checking.
really helpfull..thank you Grin
