Hey,

I could really use some advice please, in June I went to the GP because I had a little weird mark on my left upper breast, they said it’s just a skin lesion, it was 5mm in June, I went back on the 5th October as i noticed it slight changes colour and looked bigger, they referred me to the skin cancer clinic, and then had 6 photos taken from the dermatologist and they sent the photos off to be looked at. It’s now grown 7mm! I’ve just had a letter back saying, they received the photos, and looked at them, then said this in the letter…..

This is good news right??
mum just a little confused on why they want to see me for a follow up? Any one been through this before?

please no hate.

It reads as good news and to treat as advised but they would like a second opinion.

Hmm I’m a little more worried now

Where does it say about wanting a second opinion?

seems confident it’s not cancer, it literally says benign at the top, and no signs of cancer further down.

gives advice about cream but wants to see you in dermatology to discuss treatment if necessary….ie what do you/they want to do about removal if the cream does not work!

Sorry I did not mean any confusion, I get myself worked up easily and needed reassurance for sure

By second opinion I mean the dr wants to see you in person to assess whether this treatment is working and reinspect the lesion.

Don’t be sorry, I can totally understand being worried. But I don’t think you need to be. Dr seems happy from the photos it’s not cancer. But they want to see you in clinic if the cream hasn’t worked, not to make sure it’s not cancer (if they were in any doubt they wouldn’t be waiting, you’d still be on the two week wait pathway), but just to see what the next steps could be. Sounds thorough.

Hi Chloe207,
Apologies, but we have removed the image with the doctor's mail because it contained their name? Please do feel free to re-post it, and in the meantime we wish you the very best of health. x

I can’t see the letter, but when I had teledermascopy done, the letter came back saying suspected squamous cell carcinoma (it actually was melanoma but they didn’t know that at the time) and it should be removed. The booking secretary called me the same day to book me in for surgery two weeks later. It all happened very quickly and was quite urgent.

From everything you’ve said, this sounds like positive news. Just take photos of it regularly and report all changes so they can track what’s happening with it and if treatment is working.
