Critical illness insurance payout?

I completely forgot I had CIC in the chaos of my recent diagnosis, I will obviously be ringing them tomorrow. I’m pretty sure my diagnosis will qualify (grade 3 invasive, will be at least stage 1, sadly) and no related exemptions. I can’t do anything about it at 7pm on a Sunday, so I’m just curious if anyone has had any issues getting a pay out and how long it took? I’m with Royal London.

I claimed on CIC. I had no problems at all. It took a couple of months to be paid. The insurance company also sent out an oncology nurse to help with any issues I may have had.

I claimed for my dh's stage 3 diagnosis back in Feb. It got paid within weeks!

My critical illness policy paid out very quickly, not cancer, MS diagnosis.

Providers usually pay out quickly on proof of diagnosis. You will need to check that your diagnosis is covered under your policy. Your policy schedule (sent out when you took the cover out) will list included conditions. Equally Royal London will be able to confirm. There is usually a dedicated claims number and that is the one to use as you will get straight through to the correct team.

I wish you all the best with your claim and treatment.
