Worried about frequent infections and waiting for a lymph node check

Hi there- wanted to check if anyone had understanding of what is meant when you read that frequent infections is sign of cancer . In the past 6 weeks I have had 3 sore throats, though each time it resolved and did not need antibiotics, felt like more a low grade virus. But the frequency still feels high. I am jsut concerned about symptoms As I also have a persistent raised lymph node in groin which I am waiting to have checked out, and also elevated active B12 identified in recent blood test which I’ve understood can be a marker for blood cancer. I have 2 small kids so generally anxious and tired (which is also making it hard to know if fatigue is a symptom - as yes I am fatigued but I think most parents are) . Would appreciate any advice or just a hand hold as driving myself a bit mad and finding it hard to stay away from dr google/doctor gpt

three sore throats in six weeks would seem to me like the original infection wasn’t killed the first time and kept coming back.

the lymph node is probably due to your body fighting infection.

b12 can be raised for a number of reasons. are you sure you aren’t just taking supplements that contain it and that’s why? i take one for something else and only realised it also has b6 andb12.

Thank you. I was taking a multi vitamin for most of summer though ran out about 3 weeks before blood test. So hoping it’s that. I’ve had the raised lymph node in groin for a while although it has stayed the same size

Get the lymph node checked. It could just be on of those things. I have a sore lump in my groin (it’s not a lymph node and not cancer, I do have cancer and it’s definitely not there). It’s just one of those things. I’ve also been sick for weeks as has everyone in our house. Also unrelated to cancer. I think you normally need to stop taking B12 supplements 4-6 weeks before a blood test, so the elevated B12 is probably that.

yeah these multi vitamins can all contain the same things so you effectively overdose yourself on some! i now check. if i google and a particular vitamin is water soluble i know i will pee it out so it’ll be fine. if i google and it’s fat soluble it can build up in my system if i keep taking it. so i’d suggest you stop over doing any of those ones and take the recommended dose only.

three weeks of not taking them would still have them in your system. especially if you eat well.

sounds like youve been run down for a good while hence the vitamins and recurrent infections. and potentially the lymph node too.

get it all checked out and feel better soon.

Thank you @Elieza . I guess I am just knitting together a few things: swollen lymph nodes, high b12, frequent infections and I’ve also had back pain on and off for months, and worrying they’re all inter connected and potentially meaning cancer. It’s causing me so much stress I’ve now lost appetite, but think is am likely over worrying! Thank you for your response
