Did anyone else get abdominal pain alongside or after chemotherapy?

Did you get tummy pains with chemo?

I've had all six of the chemo sessions. Went off a lot of tastes, as you'd expect. Some occasional constipation, followed by short bouts of diarrhoea with most cycles. What I didn't really get, until recently is pains in my abdomen. I'm pooping fairly regularly, definitely not constipated.

The pain is worse in the night- it can wake me up. But also quite annoyingly I sometimes get it in the daytime too.

Has anyone else experienced this ? Does anyone have any ideas what to do? Have told the surgeon, who delayed the op and when I saw him last I really thought it was getting better so said I thought I was on the mend and he's given me a date for the surgery- 5th October.

Just to add- this is an old username. I didn't create it just for this, my son used to have tummy pains as a child.

I didn’t have chemo but I’ve posted to give your thread a ‘bump’. I hope you get some replies. Wishing you all the best.

No I thought I had every symptom of everything during chemo but not that.
Could it be related to the type of cancer? Side effect of drugs?
If not I would see GP. My experience was that GP was very proactive on any new health problems while I had cancer.

Thanks Sunny, and yes chemo was the gift that kept giving for me as well. I've now had an appointment with GP who prescribed buscopan which I will pick up tomorrow. I had already ordered some peppermint oil gel capsules which I've been taking and no tummy ache at night for last 2 nights which is actual progress. We shall see. Thanks for your reply and I hope all goes well for you

I didn't have that, I would give your chemo line a call and check with them. Even if you have finished if it's related to chemo you can still call though this time of year could be a bug. Sometimes meds have side effects if just started any.

I did, I'm pretty sure it was on the (long!) list of side effects. I had EC x 4 and Paclitaxel x 12, and I think it was the Paclitaxel.
