Acral melanoma

Has anyone been diagnosed with this? I was referred under the two week wait. Had a photo taken, and now have been called back to see a consultant. The mole is under my foot. I have got to wait 10 days for my appointment and I am spiralling a bit.

@Thingsthatgo Yes I have. This was my second melanoma. Have you had your appointment yet?

Yes, I had my appointment yesterday. The consultant said that he is confident that it is not melanoma, but that it is the ‘type of mole that might give me trouble in the future’ so he is going to remove it and a margin around it.

It’s great they are removing it. Make sure it’s properly biopsied and sent to pathology. They didn’t think mine was melanoma either looking at it, but it was.

I agree with @mindutopia My dermatologist didn’t expect mine to come back as melanoma and she said she only removed it due to my history. It just looked like a large light brown freckle. The only reason I had it checked was due to the fact it had increased in size.

I’m fine thanks, luckily it was caught very early. I had to have a skin graft but it seems to have healed well and isn’t causing too many problems. I hope your surgery and results go well.
