Called back after mammogram and needing a second breast biopsy

I was recalled after a routine mammogram. At breast clinic a star shaped mass was found and I had several biopsies taken. It was suggested by the radiologist that this could be a radial scar. The clinic rang yesterday and I was told the biopsies results weren’t suspicious but it was not a radial scar and because the results differ from the ultrasound image another biopsy needs to be taken. Has anyone had this happen to them? I have been offered another appointment next week for the further biopsy. Thanks.

Not happened to me, but hand holding as I guessing you’re quite nervous with what’s going on.

Hi, how are you getting on? I had a stereotactic biopsy for probable radial scar last week amd was told that there is a likelihood I would have to go for a 2nd biopsy once the results are in. I think its pretty routine for radial scar- from what I understand they have to be very sure it's radial scar or another benign condition before they sign you off. X

Had the second biopsy last week and the results are due this Friday. Were you also recalled after a mammogram? I’ve avoided searching the internet and have channelled my nervous energy into decluttering. The waiting is very difficult x

Glad you've had the 2nd one, not long to wait for the results.
I wasn't recalled I was referred for a change in the other breast I'd noticed. That side is fine- they found the suspected radial scar on the other breast.

I had similar picked up from routine mammogram. I had a stereotactic biopsy which came back benign, but because of the imaging and it differing from results I then had a vacuum biopsy as they wanted to sample a larger area, that also came back benign. They then said they wanted to do an excision biopsy to remove the whole area and biopsy it which I had done under general anaesthetic. That also came back benign, it was a number of benign conditions that apparently look like cancer on the mammogram. Just looking back at letter it says it was PASH, columnar cell fibrocystic change, usual type epithelial hyperplasia, duct ectasia. I was discharged after results of final biopsy

My results are due next Wednesday- trying to not think it too much.

I've got an appointment for tomorrow afternoon for my results, spooked me a bit but at least I'll know sooner.
They orginally said 2 weeks for the results- appointment due on Thursday 17th but I told the reception staff I was away on the Wednesday and Thursdays that week and they said it would probably be Friday 18th then 😖

@Sausages123456 Let's be positive, my results are tomorrow too! Fingers crossed.
I'm having my hair cut this morning and doing some gardening/grass as it's such lovely weather. Going to keep busy. Holding hands.

Sausages - try not to be spooked. I was seen on a different date after my first biopsy. Probably just thought they’d see you earlier as you said you’d be away. Definitely better to have the results earlier too.

I've had a few tears this morning, spoke to Mum and that was too much.
I'm off to my appointment soon. Feeling really nervous.

Not ready to share the whole consultation, but wanted to share, my gut feeling last night after reading this and other threads, helped me prepare for my appointment today.

All I will say is when I was greeted by a Consultant, M, different to the F I'd met before, he was very kind, but I knew he meant business.

I walked into the Consultation room with him and there was a nurse and another Consultant....I just know it was bad...

Unfortunately I have breast cancer, I will have a Lumpectomy, the consultation was very thorough, the nurse was very caring when I wanted to chat aftewards. I have a booked surgery for tumour removal. Stage 1 grade 3 waiting other results re Herp?

It's taken me a few hours to chill and relax after lots of family conversations and with friends.

Going to book a quick trip away...feel better that I am no longer worrying about what it actually is!! How crazy is that.

I just want to get my finances/will etc in order and tbh not putting up with anyone else's stress....that would be helpful.

Maisy, I'm 5 years on from where you are so I know exactly how you're feeling. In fact I've just had the results from my last yearly mammogram. Nothing I can really say will help, but you WILL get through this
