Think I’m looking for handhold, similar experiences… A few weeks ago I started with really bad pain in the lower right part of my stomach, very tender and occasionally stabbing. After a couple of days I went to the GP, who immediately referred me into the hospital with suspected appendicitis. Got to hospital who did blood test and CT scan; blood test came back as normal, with no inflammation. CT scan showed ‘nodules’ with ‘calcifications’, which I didn’t understand, and was told I’d have to stay in for further tests.
I won’t bore you with the fairly awful hospital stay I subsequently had, where I had to repeatedly ask for Gynae to come and see me, but it took three days for them to do so. During this time more blood tests were taken and I was told that there were no tumour markers present, which I took as a positive. There was talk of these nodules potentially having been caused by TB, and a further test needing to be done, but the results for this wouldn’t come back for a few weeks. After four days and a cursory exam by Gynae, I was released from hospital with antibiotics for a ‘pelvic infection’, only to be called a few days later by the Gynae team to be told I was being put on the two week cancer pathway and needed to come in for an urgent MRI and biopsy.
I was in for these on Friday and was discharged without speaking to a doctor. I’m still really unclear what people are looking for.
Has anyone had anything like this? I’m now questioning everything that I’ve experienced as normal over the years – I do have heavy periods, I’ve always had bad period pain, worse after the birth of each of my children, and have had pain during sex, all of which I have just assumed is relatively normal. I am of course freaking out that it is cancer – not to derail the thread, but I am currently also dealing with a child who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, so I’m also trying very hard to keep it together in front of the kids who at the moment know nothing and I’m desperately hoping for a positive outcome.
