Skin cancer- two weeks to wait for results

Had my dermatologist appointment today. Took lots of pictures with a special magnifier. Now got to wait two weeks for results to see if I need a biopsy or if it is all ok. How do people stop the worry? I am hoping it is nothing serious but I just want to know.

I had a suspicious mole last year and had the two week wait for results, needed a biopsy then had two week wait for results! Thankfully mine was ok but the waiting is really hard so I do understand what you are going through, you can only keep yourself busy and try your best to think positive. Easy to say but not so easy to do! Good luck x

both my husband and I have been through this in the last year. Mine was fine but DH had to have the mole removed as it looked suspicious. It did look scarily like all those melanoma photos you see online so it was hard not to worry.
We then had 6 week wait for results. So I get your anxiety but in both cases all was well and DH mole turned out to be fine.

And that is the more common outcome happily. And even if it is dodgy catching it early is the v best thing you can do so.try not to.worry and think about worst case scenarios.
Stay busy, dont Google photos and hopefully you will be back to update us with good news in no time. Good luck x

Definitely don't Google. If people start telling you about someone they know etc, tell them u don't want to know. Try and think u are in the system- u are being cared for- easy for me to say i know. I would definitely be trying to do things to distract myself. Hand hold OP.

I’m in the same position. I had my photos taken on 14th August, but I was told up to 4 weeks. I am allowing myself 10 minutes to worry about it, and then getting on with my day. It sounds very disciplined, but I am really not! I just don’t want it to spoil the last of the summer. If it creeps into my head I just tell myself to wait until the next worry slot! I am very busy at the moment, which helps.

Skin cancer is very slow growing and (usually) easily treated. I already commented on your earlier thread about my (terrible) experience but I had it cut out, it was a BCC, all fine.
I’d had my growth for two years and it didn’t cause any other issues.
I didn’t worry particularly as, statistically, most people will be fine.
