Terrible thing to be going through…

I saw this earlier on her insta. It was such a moving post. I had to read it a few times as I couldn’t quite believe it. Awful disease.

LabubuTERF · 12/08/2026 00:18

Such a beautiful and talented woman. Her statement is lovely too. God bless.

MyOtherProfile · 12/08/2026 00:21

I saw this on the BBC app. So sad, she's so young to be facing this.__

ShrubRose · 12/08/2026 00:28

Heartbreaking.

So sad that she has been told there is nothing they can do for her . Seems she has had more than her fair share of serious health problems . Seems a very courageous young woman .

chinchirry · 12/08/2026 00:40

Such awful upsetting news :(

Absolutely no age, and she said she only had a tiny hard spot!

Yes I read that it wasn’t really a ‘lump’ yet it’s already spread pretty much everywhere. Absolutely awful.

Girlintheframe · 12/08/2026 07:56

I saw this. So sad

pouletvous · 12/08/2026 08:12

Oh god. How awful. Could happen to any of us

Mydogisagentleman · 12/08/2026 08:14

Absolutely tragic.
I really hope she inspires other women to check their breasts and act on ANY abnormalities

Has she though ? The report I read (on the BBC) says it was too late for chemo, but it may well be that there are other treatments available.

I also have incurable cancer (in my case endometrial that has spread to my pelvis) but it is controllable. Currently I'm taking a hormone treatment (a small daily table) and am monitored with a CT scan every three months, and the cancer isn;t spreading. If the hormone treatment stops being effective I' told that there are other treatmetns such as immunology and chemo that can be tried.

At present my take is that this is something I will die with, not necessarily of.

Pancakeflipper · 12/08/2026 13:26

Was sad to read this. She really has had some tough health issues to deal with throughout her life. Lots of love and luck to Lucy.

Crissy81 · 15/08/2026 06:00

She is also type one diabetic which is one of the most difficult and misunderstood conditions out there. Lack of awareness is appalling. Shes had tough deal with her health and still did well. Poor woman.

I think this here, she only had a spot by sounds of it, how many can say they check for lumps and any slightest change such as a spot? And if that was already at advance stages thats pretty terrifying. So yea absolutely check for any change even slightest change. Cancers seem to becoming very aggressive and quick in recent years or might be just my perception.

Such sad news.
Her career in America was curtailed because of renal failure and subsequent kidney transplant.
I obviously don't know her personally but her personality seemed to shine through the characters she played,
I still remember her fondly as Hayley in The Archers before she became visible as Dawn in The Office on TV. Will hope and pray for a better outcome than predicted.

Renal failure would have been complication of T1D and the awful thing is with T1D as with any autoimmune condition it doesnt matter what the person does it really is down to luck of the draw. She did amazing to keep up with acting schedules as she did. I dont quite understand why there hasnt been greater enhancements in breast screening. Many other countries use 3D tomosynthesis, and MRI for dense breast tissue. We use 2D imaging and thats it. We also only start screening every three years post 50. This should be lowered to post 40 especially with rising cancer rates in young women.
