Cancerversary

A female friend has told me recently she wants a cancer survival anniversary.
Has anyone ever had one before?
Looking for ideas on how to celebrate, maybe gifts? I don't really know what to do. But would do/spend anything though, so any ideas welcome please. Thank you in advance

We mark my daughter’s final day of treatment each year- it’s like another little birthday. In fact tomorrow she will mark ‘5 Years All Clear’ so I have bought her a small gift and we are going on a family trip. In previous years I have taken her to the theatre or we have gone to the beach.

I can’t quite get my head around it because it seems like such an ongoing thing. When do you celebrate? After 5 years? After 10 years? Mine came back 2 weeks after my first round of treatment finished. But if I was going to celebrate, I’d go travelling every year to see a new part of the world I’d never experienced. Is there something on her bucket list she’d like to do?

I have avoided any sort of anniversary fuss. I can’t help thinking it’s tempting fate.

As for your friend, something healthy? A morning at a spa.

Agree with @mindutopia
I had primary BC in 2009 and it was back in 2023. I had the “ works” treatment wise, but breast cancers do have a habit of returning unfortunately.

I think like @mindutopia I would be tempted to just embrace life/ travel/ experiences..
