Suspected endometrial cancer

I hope it’s ok to use this board as someone to offload, I’ve been a regular on MN for 2 decades, never dreamt I’d end up here.

Tomorrow I have my appointment following a “very urgent” 2WW referral.

I had a Transvaginal US just over a week ago, flagged a big fibroid and more concerningly a very thick uterus wall. Cue a concerned Gp trying to get hold of me

So tomorrow’s the day, and I’m terrified. Don’t know what to expect, don’t know what the outcome will be or anything.

Handhold would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Handhold from me too. Just heading to bed but will be thinking of you tomorrow and I’m keeping everything crossed for you that it’s not cancer.

I’m through the other side now, I went to the GP in December thinking I was in peri-menopause and ended up diagnosed with grade 1, stage 1a endometrial cancer. I had such amazing support on my own thread here through it all so know that whatever happens, there are women here for every handhold you might need.

I hope you can manage some sleep tonight but easier said than done I know.

Oh I had exactly the same just 2 weeks ago OP.

Yes it’s scary but the urgency is simply down to being on the cancer pathway where they aim to see everyone quickly that’s all.

The removal was quick and mostly painless but do remember to take your painkillers an hour before.

It was done and dusted in about 20 minutes.

I actually keep meaning to update my thread with how I’m doing now. Getting better physically every day, mentally I’m taking it day by day as that’s still a struggle but I think some of that is still being in shock from how quick things ended up going, even though sometimes the waiting felt like forever.

I’m actually off to a gig tomorrow night, the last one I was at was the night before I got my diagnosis so it feels like a big step being back in the same venue and remembering how worried I was at the unknown. I think it’ll be good therapy for me though.

I also had the same thing about 6 or 7 years ago and both times they told me the fibroid looked healthy when they removed it, although they still obviously had to send it for biopsy.

Mine were discovered 'by accident' though during a scan for a different reason, so I hadn't had any bleeding or other symptoms.

It went ok. I had a few procedures, including a biopsy, a camera that required water to be pumped into my uterus, a coil fitting and a US to ensure the coil is in the right location.

I feel totally battered, most was uncomfortable but boy did the coil fitting hurt!!

Two weeks to wait for the biopsy results. Hard to get an opinion out of the gynae today, I guess they are trained to not give anything away without the results

Oh that water is such a weird feeling. Felt like I was wetting myself constantly and it was just so odd. That’s what I had in February, I did get taken to the side straight away to be told things looked unusual though and to be prepared for potentially bad news from the biopsies so hopefully that means there’s nothing obviously bad for you. I’ll keep everything crossed for you, the waiting for results is really hard I know so we’re here for handholds throughout.

I had a similar scare before but thankfully they were only pre-cancerous. I had excessive bleeding following a pregnancy. The doctor explained that my uterus had thickened too much. The coil has massively improved things. I had to have the coil removed and a biopsy taken every 6 months for about 18 months to check the cells had gone. My periods are very light now a few years on. Fingers crossed for you.
