Possible breast cancer after biopsy - handhold please 🙏

I’m 50 and got recalled after my first mammogram (quite quickly)

l’ve since had an ultrasound and a biopsy. There is something in my left breast, the radiographer said she was “more concerned”’after the ultrasound.

I have to go back on Wednesday for the results

They said if it’s cancer they couldn’t see it in my lymph nodes.

I’ve already met my breast care nurse.

I asked if it was a lumpectomy I’d need but they couldn’t answer and hesitated…

Are these bad signs?

Has anyone been through this?

I have a lovely fiance, disabled daughter, elderly parents and rescue dogs that depend on me……😞

I have been through this and found the Breast Cancer Now helpline invaluable during what seemed like endless waits for biopsy results and scan results. Many breast cancers are very treatable now 💐

I have been though this 15 years ago when 45. I went to the breast clinic to have a mamagram due to symptoms. I had a biopsy at the time too. I was told it was probably cancer before I had the results from the biopsy. I was only told that no lymph nodes were involved until after my operation for a mastectomy. I needed a mastectomy as they found it in 2 places.
That's good news if they are telling you there are no lymph nodes involved already. As mine was only hormone related I just took tamoxifen for 10 years no need for any other treatment. If it does turns out to be something it sounds like it has been caught really early so should be very treatable. Do you have someone to go with you on Wednesday for support.

I was told Wednesday that I have invasive ductal carcinoma that’s hormone positive, which I understand is a good thing.
I’m seeing the surgeon Wednesday and I’m shitting myself
my aunt had the same thing and she’s doing great a few years down the line so I’m hanging onto that right now, till I know more.

@adamant2025 you should be offered a treatment plan on Wednesday. I was given an MRI scan and the results were that a couple of lymph nodes looked suspicious. I had a lumpectomy and lots of lymph nodes removed, but sentinel node testing is now used to avoid lymph node clearance if possible, and oncotype testing is used to see if chemotherapy will offer any benefit. I had invasive ductal carcinoma too.

I think being very scared is a normal reaction. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. But treatments have come on in leaps and bounds. Best of luck and please let us know how you get on.

That's good. I know it's a lot to take in but at least on Wednesday you will have an idea of what you will be dealing with rather than your mind spiralling. As I only needed tamoxifen I didn't mention the word cancer at all to my children I just told them I had a lump in my boob that was being removed but everyone is different about how they want explain it.
