Leaking seroma post op

Hello all you strong warriors 💪🤘

Has anyone here had experience of a wire guided mammoplasty and axillary node clearance?

I ask as I had mine 3 weeks ago today and it's been nothing but a pain in my t*t. Firstly my drain became dislodged 2 days post op and stopped collecting fluid in the bag and instead it just flowed freely out of me. It took them a week to remove it. Then I got engorged with a huge seroma in my breast - I've been manually drained twice totalling 320ml being extracted.

Anyway, 3 weeks down and I'm leaking constantly out of my nipple scar. There's one particular hole it is coming out of. I saw a surgeon yesterday who is just pleased it's draining out but my god it's annoying. Can anyone else relate during their recovery? Is it to be expected? And if so, how much longer can I expect it to carry on?

Should dry out in about 2 weeks. Make sure you have really good bandages etc to cover it. Amazon is sometimes better than what is given. Look our for it recollecting. Good luck x

Hi, I had a double masc with reconstruction and total ax node clearance. So whilst my procedure isn’t the same, im also at 3 weeks post surgery this week.

they removed my drains after two days but most other ladies had theirs in for 3-4 ish days. Sorry you’re having a shit time, were u still in the hospital whilst it was dislodged? Did no one notice?

My drain dislodged 2 days post op at home. I went to A&E multiple times on the advice of 111 and my district nurses but each time they just observed it was still attached. Apparently it didn't matter that it wasn't doing anything. It's been a whole headache and hideous experience to be honest. But my breast scar seems to have calmed down a lot today so that's something.

Wow, the care you have had sounds so vastly different to mine. I was given a 24/7 out of hours number and a mon-Fri number for specialist doctors and nurses. Sorry your care doesn’t seem ideal. I cannot believe no one noticed your drain wasn’t in, that’s shocking. Hopefully you’re on the mend now.
